that is where fox 10's stefania okolie joins us live with the latest. stefania? >> reporter: well, yeah, linda, nearly three hours after this fire started, i can tell you crews are still hard at work here. we are in a plaza that's pretty much adjacent to where these on fire. you can still see they have those aerials going, lots of water, about 1500 gallons of water being spewed about a minute right now. i can tell you within the last ten minutes, we have seen small fires still sparking in these buildings, a lot of smoldering going on, and the crews are still working from the outside because the structure is not safe for them to go inside. but i can tell you, this is a drastic -- it's drastically definite from what we initially saw. we'll go ahead and show you some video that was sen i fox 10 news room that shows these buildings in flames. again, the battalion chief tells me about four buildings caught on fire here. during that time, two buildings also near these apartment buildings also had to be evacuated due to the heat that was coming from this fire and a lot

stefania okolie is live tonight with the story. stefania, this is devastating for the family. >> reporter: yeah, exactly, marc, talk about a very heartless crime. now investigators with the phoenix police department are working around the clock to find whoever is responsible. it's hard to imagine, not only most valuable items gone, but your dog shot dead in your backyard. the burglar got into this the valley family's home through a doggy door, something that many folks have in the neighborhood. this evening they are questioning whether or not it is safe. meanwhile, the family who had their dog killed are really hoping that police can get the criminal off the streets. >> it's something sharon and perry may never understand. >> well, he should be ashamed of himself that he has no for life. >> a burglar shot and killed their 7-year-old boxer, feedbph and stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and electronics from their home. they got in through the doggy door. >> what if our son had been home? would they have shot our son? >> poli

live in the studio, i'm stefania okolie, fox 10 news. >>> another apartment fire overnight leaves one woman without a place to live. 12th street and indian school road. one of the units had caught fire after the woman living there reported hearing a loud noise. the woman was able to escape with one of her dogs, but another dog and three of her cats are missing. crews were able to stop the fire from spreading to other units. a woman at the scene was rushed to the hospital, but it's not clear if it was related to the fire. the cause of the blaze is under investigation. >>> and a follow-up now on that devastating almost a year ago. this weekend, the buffalo chip restaurant reopened with a lot of help from the community. a lot of people donated historic items for a wall of relics of things that were lost in the fire. the new structure is connected to parts of the building that were not destroyed in the blaze. people visiting say they are excited to see the bar back up and running again. >> i think it's amazing. i think it's going to be amazing. i think the new building is amazing. you kno

stefania okolie joins us live now from the phoenix police department with the latest tonight. stefania? >> yeah, that's right, marc. earlier this evening i spoke with the family, went by their house again. they are obviously very happy in connection to this burglary and the death of their dog. but here's the thing. there's one more person that police are looking for, and the suspected burglar that they have behind bars right now says that's who is responsible for shooting their 7-year-old mixed boxer. police say this man was behind a robbery that ended deadly in the crest view neighborhood in north phoenix. the molars' home was ransacked last month. they told me they found their 13-year-old and killed in their backyard. police say they were tipped off after someone saw this surveillance video released last week. police say they went into the walmart and used the car stolen from their home. police say tibets admitted too all of this, including his role in the robbery. but as for who fatally shot the family's 6-year-old boxer, the an accomplice. they stole electronics and jewelry

we are live there with stefania okolie. stefania? >> i can tell you things right now are a little bit more calm than what we were about an hour and a halving a. i'm standing right in front of an apartment complex where i'm told four buildings went up in flai flames. we'll go of the viewer video that we got into the fox 10 newsroom. we are told that the fire started just after 7:00. i'm told that nearly or more than a hundred firefighters, it took more than a hundred of them to get those flames down. and i'm told that two buildings were evacuated that are adjacent to the four buildings that caught on fire, so about 25-30 people were forced out of their homes. we spoke to the battalion chief just a little while ago. he says that this is really just >> it is citizens in the area. it's obviously very damaging to them. in downtown, a very vibrant district right here. we have shut down downtown gilbert road for folks in every direction. we have got a lot of guys and gals out there working to isolate this, but so far no report of injuries.

stefania okolie reports on this developing story. stefania? >> yeah, that's right, linda. investigators say it was all about what was up in the apartment buildings. construction crews just had up the wood, so that made fire burn very fast and very easily. in a matter of minutes, a single alarm fire fire and gilbert fire rescue crews were battling these ferocious flames, four apartment buildings destroyed, three of them ultimately collapsing. the fire spreading not only because of the intense heat but the framework, mostly plywood. without drywall you up, the rate at which flames spread is drastically different. it's much faster. >> within a few minutes, it had got out. >> buildings nearby were evacuated, families forced to wait on the corners. >> we felt very stranded. we didn't have any of our belongings, our phones. >> i was pretty freaked out. it was pretty overwhelming. >> the scene like what we saw back in april at gilbert road. the frame made the fires hotter and fast spreading. in neither of these massive fire neighbors feeling thankful as well. >> no one passed awa

. >> stefania okolie is live at asu in tempe where students and professors watched the event tonight and she is there with their reaction. >> that's right. it was a very productive viewing party that they had hear at the performing media arts center asu. the students were very excited and really were anticipating watching this debate considering the recent two days that we have seen on this campaign trail. following the debate. i asked a couple of them rather several of them what they thought and here is a listen to what they had to say. >> was this a civilized debate? >> civilized is a very uniquely used terminate sense here. i would say at this point, no. >> i th so in front of the town hall. i think they approached it a little better than the first one. i like to say. although they still aren't doing the best i think of being civilized. >> either-or both of candidates got their points across when it came to policies? >> i think they were trying to get there but it seemed like they were going back and forth at each other trying to attack the other. >> i believe they definitely did

. >> crowds at the state fair trying to keep their school scape long with them fox 10's stefania okolie who is -- they are in phoenix. she has been here for a month now. she is at the fair. this is her second trip to the fair and nearly every day it's been above 90 degrees since she has been here. >> how are you holding up out there we got the chocolate melt down and i know you are trying to get acclimated here. this is a bit much. >> yeah, that's right. we have the ice going on here. i have to tell you with my second time back in the fair, it's certainly much, much hotter this time. in fact this is the busiest days. are you hot out here? >> very, very hot day. >> people have been out here throughout the day. we reached a record breaking temperature for this time of the year. i mean, you got to ask yourself, where is the fall at this point? i will tell you it really didn't stop anybody from coming out and enjoying the fair on this hot i'm diein'. >> it pain the only way to describe how folks are feeling on this hot day at the arizona state fair. >> you know, my little fan here. feels ni
