in some respects, the oath keepers trial is more serious than that, even though stewart rhodes never entered the capitol himself. instead, prosecutors allege, quote roads and certain coconspirators plan to stop the lawful transfer of presidential power, which included multiple ways to deploy force. they coordinated travel across the country to enter washington, d.c., equip themselves with a variety of weapons, donned combat and tactical gear, and we're prepared to answer rhodes 's call to take up arms at rhodes's direction. the language prosecutors use their plan to stop the lawful transfer of power there is very important, because the crime of which he is charged of seditious conspiracy makes it illegal to and i quote, inspire and overthrow, put down order destroy by force the government of the united states, and use force to prevent hinder or delay the execution of any law of the united states. in other words, to do a violent insurrection. now the oath keepers are arguing they thought what they were doing was illegal when they armed themselves and plan to take the capital by force

do you think we're going to see any implication by stewart rhodes, other oath keepers for people like roger stone, who we know have a connection? >> katie, that is what i think we're all waiting for the doj to eventually hone in on, but they have been doing their investigation a bit differently, as we've previously discussed, and have started from the bottom up. sort of hoping potentially that some of these fringier on the ground insurrectionists, people with less political clout and connections might potentially provide for information or maybe serve down the line, provideding insight into levels of coordination that could have existed between the white house. and again, these grassroots insurrectionists that has yet to pan out, though. but getting -- stewart rhodes, someone who has much more visibility than the average insurrectionist, someone who was involved with coordination, and did have some contact with people like roger stone. steve bannon for example, the night before, january 5th, we've previously reported. when he heard that enrique tario was going to prison, he wanted to

what can you tell us about the oath keepers and their founder, stewart rhodes?n 2009 to push back on what he thought was some sort of eminent constitutional takeover by barack obama. obviously, that did not happen and they got more militant as time went on. in fact, one of their offshoots the constitutional sheriffs, tries to recruit sheriffs all throughout the country. one of the founding members of the oath keepers founded the constitutional sheriffs and their point, basically is to abide by their own version of the constitution, abide by what they think the constitution means and not what the law is, and the law of the land in the united states. that's why it's scary and this stuff can happen subtly over the course of time. >> the fact that the adl found that, is that surprising? >> not at all. these people are very interested in this as a social cause. the fact there's 81 of them is a lot of people. 81 elected officials in this country believing in this kind of thing, if you have people believing in the oath keepers version of the constitution rather than th
