i'm sara stinson reporting back to you. and take a look at this. novato police say 5 people rammed a car into a store front to break into a business on diablo avenue. it happened around 03:00am saturday. person is in custody. officers spotted 2 cars speeding off and followed one of them to richmond where the driver crashed. police arrested the driver and that car was also confirmed to be stolen. police also recovered stolen merchandise inside the vehicle. the investigation is ongoing. governor gavin newsom announced the last batch of bills he's either signed or vetoed one of those bills would have allowed undocumented immigrants to apply for unemployment benefits. newsom says it required money not included in the state budget. it's the second time a week. he's a second time in a week whether he's vetoed a bill that would support undocumented immigrants. last week he killed a bill that would have opened campus jobs to undocumented students in the uc. and cal state university systems. happening today. anyone thinking of heading into san francisco sho

kron 4 sarah stinson joins us live. she was at that press conference where da jenkins took reporters questions. sarah, what's the latest? >> san francisco da brooke jenkins, she spoke with us just moments ago telling us she has filed charges against 17 year-old accused of shooting ricky pearsall, the forty-niners player. now she did say because this suspect is of minor, she can't really get into some of the details. of course, we won't know this person's name. all we know is a 17 year-old boy from tracy. now. this is these are the charges that were just filed today. it was attempted murder, including enhancing allegations of intentional discharge of a firearm personal use of a semi automatic weapon, attempted second degree robbery. and again, because of this person is a minor, she said, i can't say much, but what she did say is charges will be filed in juvenile court and she did go into some detail about not charging this person as adult. she did site that this is due to california law. and this is a decision that she q

i'm sara stinson reporting back to you. >> sarah, thank you. it is 10 34 and developing news out of the south bay. now a man is suing child protective services in santa clara county. this comes after the death of a 6 year-old boy from san jose. that boy was stabbed to death last summer. now the grandfather of jordan cam walker who you see here is suing cps claiming that he warned them about the danger that boy was an the grandfather also had many failed attempts to gain child custody himself. jordan's uncle nathan addison, who you see pictured now is charged with the murder, also for stabbing and killing. the boy's great grandmother was taking care of him at the time. addison is currently in jail awaiting trial. and according to the lawsuit, little jordan was removed from his mother's care after he allegedly brought a bag of his mother's methamphetamine to school. attorneys say when he was placed in his great grandmother's care, though, at her home, neighbors would see jordan left alone outside for long periods of time. they even saw him riding

kron 4 sarah stinson has the latest details. >>the non-profit walk assesses putting the word out about the 2 recent pedestrian deaths by putting signs up so far. more people have now died after getting hit by cars this year compared to 2023. new signs hang along. san francisco's lombard street working to sites where a pedestrian got hit and killed by a driver. the nonprofit walk says the 2 recent deaths are adding on to an alarming total. we've now had 18 pedestrian deaths in san francisco. a 7 year-old woman was hit by a driver on september 12. >>at the intersection of lombard and laguna streets, she has since died from her injuries. then on saturday, a 52 year-old man was hit and killed by a car on lombard and goff streets. my heart broken for. 2 families who just lost loved ones 2 weeks right here. the sign's caught the eye of ohana magnussen who has lived off of lombard for nearly 30 years sends a message to me that it's not safe to walk around in neighborhood. magnussen has also been driving for lyft and uber in the city fo

i'm sara stinson reporting back to you. >> all right, sarah, thank you. california. lawmakers voicing where they stand on prop 36. new poll shows that most of those surveyed stand behind the measure that aims for harsher consequences for drug and theft crimes. kron 4 stephanie rothman joins us in studio with the opposing views from governor newsom and san jose mayor matt mahan. stephanie. >> can governor newsom opposes prop 36 while the mayor favors it. this new poll brings it back into the conversation just less than 2 months away from election day. and a recent poll by the public institute of california. 71% up polar support prop 36 while 26% oppose it, if passed through voters, what set into motion harsher penalties for some drug and theft crimes. the measure seeks to reverse course on looser consequences from prop 47. that's the 2014 voter approved law that changed some felonies to misdemeanors, including retail theft. one, the stolen items are valued at less than $950. while the majority of californians support this. governor newsom says this is not the way the

i'm sara stinson reporting live in orinda back to sara. thank you. >> new at 10 alameda county district attorney pamela price is facing harassment accusations from her own employees. they say prices making criminal threats and intimidating them for taking part in the recall campaign against her. the lawyer representing them wrote a letter today to price along with county counsel and chief assistant da. the letter says price has showed, quote, mob boss tactics, including hiring private armed security for her office and courthouse. the letter notes no other da in county history has used private armed guards and security has always been provided by the county sheriff. the letter also says prices retaliated against prosecutors who did not support her election and warned employees of possible arrest for engaging in the recall campaign against her. the letter asks price to stop with the threats. we did reach out to the da's office for comment but have not yet heard back. 3 alameda police officers charged in the death of mario gonzalez are seekin

i'm sara stinson reporting in san francisco. back to you. >> the chp investigating a deadly crash in hayward that killed an 18 year-old woman this morning. it happened on 5.80, near the grove way onramp. woman was driving a nissan truck and police. then she. perhaps asleep at the wheel before the car flipped over and crashed into an embankment. she was the only person in the truck. firefighters put out an overnight car fire in downtown oakland. this is video from the citizen app showing the scene showing the car. this was near 14th and webster. police say the car caught fire after it crashed into another car. several passengers were injured and taken to the hospital. one person and the either one or 2 cats were rescued from the top floor of a burning building in san francisco today. the video you can see one of the little cats kind of clinging to the ledge of the 6 floor. a firefighter did manage to grab it. this happened about 06:30pm, tonight news. there is one of the camps. it happened at the hyde and eddy streets. the person

i'm sara stinson reporting back to you. >> and new details in a fiery crash from the north bay vallejoe department. they say 2 people were hurt in a crash. and 2 firefighters were also hurt rescuing the victims. that crash was between a car and a city maintenance truck just yesterday morning toll parkway and solano avenue. the driver of the car was taken to the hospital in critical condition. a person in the truck suffered minor injuries. the firefighters also suffered minor injuries. in a fire in the east bay destroys a home killing a man who had been planning to get married. police now calling this a murder investigation a city. police say 66 year-old man died after the fire sparked early monday morning near 14th and f streets. officers say they were able to evacuate everyone, but the victim died from his injuries at the hospital. police had initially arrested a man and a woman in connection to the case. but the woman has since been released. police did not sure why but only said the investigation is ongoing and we want to that impacted property yesterday and met a woman who says she
