4 "weather center," it's a weather alert day which means we'll have frequent storm team 4 updatesout the morning and into the afternoon as this will storm system approaches us bring something snow and rain our way. right now the storm team 4 radar showing some snow and rain and sleet out in west virginia. areas in green and gray and pink. that's where we're getting the wintry mix. closer to the metro area maybe getting a few flurries northern, western suburbs. most of this will be passing north and west of us through the morning hours. and then it's later today, here is the timing on any accumulating snow. this is about 10:00 in the morning, some of that begins to move into the northern shenandoah valley panhandle of west virginia. then that spreads east between 11:00 until 3:00 4:00 in the afternoon. south, it will be a mix of some snow and rain around the metro area. this area in the green an pepg. but pink. but it will stay all snow for the afternoon from around noon until around 3:00 4:00. but then it's all gone and heads off to the north and east by around 6:00 p.m.. after th

storm team 4 meteorologist chuck bell is in the storm team 4x4 live on i-66 in fairfax county. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, aaron and eun. good morning, everybody. the difference between the treated and untreated street is dramatic. we are on 66 westbound just outside the capital beltway right now in fairfax county. and this road has been treated. as a result you can see black tire marks down through the snow. about 20 minutes ago we showed you a live picture of wisconsin avenue in georgetown. it was coated with a quarter to half inch of snow that was absolutely stuck to the road. and there were quite a few cars and trucks that were having a very hard time negotiating the hill and the turn. you're going to want to really slow down today. one of my favorite bumper stickers better to be late mr. motorist than to be the late mr. motorist. leave early or arrive late, if you speed you will lose control and have a much worse day than being late for your meeting or late for school. the roadways are getting worse and will continue to do that before they get any better. i tw

take a look at storm team 4 radar right now. seeing a lilt bit of white around maryland city areas around columbia and gaithersburg right up 70 bowie reporting some rain but a little bit of snow hanging on currently with rain showers spotty down 301, calvert beach and just north of leonardtown. that's going to hang on for throughout the overnight period. i think we'll see another dose as that area of low pressure again transfers to coast that there will be some slightly higher snowfall totals maybe an inch. i think it's possible there could be as much as maybe 2 inches well up by 95 for hartford and cecil county. snow returns 32 degrees at 7:00 30 degrees by 11:00 p.m. with scattered snow hanging around. here on future weather, i can show you those areas that get the snow take you hour by hour here. here's 9:00 that snow band coming into the area again that low-pressure system off the coast, along i-95 just after midnight good chance there, annapolis and down to arias like pax river and calvert beach. then we see that band comin
