these homes around mckinley aren't in the flood zone - but the substation that powers them is. now as for power to the homes and businesses in the evacuation zone: alliant energy is not planning to cut power there unless they flood. so people are clear- alliant energy is not pre-emptively cutting power in the flood zone... only if it actually mckinley middle school will experience power outages for about an hour and a half. linn county and cedar rapids now have four sandbagging locations. there's one at the old kmart near 16th avenue and williams boulevard southwest... another at hawkeye downs. and the city has re-opened a sandbagging location at the ellis park pavilion. linn county is also sandbagging at the county's secondary roads building. no hectic at these sites, but the city is urging people to not take empty sandbags. either fill them or have them filled first. the sandbagging sites are there for people who'll need them for their homes and businesses in the flood zone. we just got word that waterloo will be closing its sandbagging site at the department of transportatio
