tara moriarty is live outside the santa clara county jail. let's start first with ktvuvidge. you are at the search center. good morning, alex. >> good morning, dave. there will be a renewed push to bring sierra lamar home. investigators believe she was killed but so far her body has not been found. that is where volunteer searchers come in. they will be getting together here at burnett elementary school in morgan hill to do another volunteer search effort. you can imagine there will be a feeling of sadness as people search the fields at hillsides. the 15-year-old last seen on march 16th as she was getting ready to leave for school. since then hundreds of people have taken part in this search effort. it's been organized by the class kids foundation. some volunteers got together last night to comfort one another after learning a suspect has been charged with the kidnapping and murder of sierra lamar. of course sierra's parents don't want to believe their daughter is dead. they are thankful volunteers aren't giving up on their efforts to find her. >> it's tough to hear. we

ktvu tara moriarty is in berkeley now covering this. there is important new information and this is really starting to effect bay area commuters isn't it? >> that is right. it really is. if you plan on catching a train this morning you are lookings at delays up to two hours. that is because this accident happened at 4:45. it's almost 6:45 and these trains haven't budged. police tell me they have to interview everyone involved. the accident happened when the train collided with a pickup truck parked too close to the tracks. the train was headed to sacramento from oakland so it justin left it wasn't going very fast. now there are passengers on board. we're not sure how many. union pacific railroad worker just backed up the train in the past hour or so and drove the truck off the track. there was damage to the other side. now police say the worker at a nearby steel meal parked there as workers around here often do. again this time it was just a little too close. as you can see the train just moved out of the tracks here. looks like they ha

ktvu tara moriarty is here now to tell why that street that area is so dangerous. tara. >> reporter: now that the light is out and traffic is beginning to pick up you can see how fast these cars are zipping here along masonic. you are looking at right now is geary. a lot of the folks are trying to beat the light so they are going fast. as you pan to the right this is where euclid is. people are coming up over the hill also gaining speed. and right here in front of trader joe's this is a blind spot. this is where the woman was trying to cross the street and was struck and kill. the accident happened at 5:30 last night. the 25-year-old victim was putting groceries in her car. she was not walking in a crosswalk. she was returning her cart back when a toyota tundra hit her. this stretch of roadway is scary and dangerous. >> i don't know if we need a crosswalk or some sort of pedestrian overpass that might help out. because these people really are putting their life on the line walking across the street without these drivers being able to see them. >> reporter: the woma

ktvu tara moriarty joins us live from the crash scene. >> reporter: police do have leads in this casere several witnesses that saw the driver strike the little girl right here in front of the apartment. it was an extremely traumatizing. the driver carry her on the truck a half a block. the driver struck the four-year- old girl as she was crossing the street right in front of her home. reportedly he initially stopped but then continued moving dragging the girl for several yards before stopping again. then the girl was able to get loss from the car and the driver fled. when crews arrived she was laying injured in the roadway. she was air lifted to childrens hospital in oakland. neighbors say she frequently plays with her seven-year-old sister outside unsupervised and she is a sweet girl. >> she talks to everything. friendly with everybody. my sister was giving her some flowers yesterday. she was like i will put them if a cup for you. she was a really nice little girl. i love that little girl so much. >> reporter: police have released a description of the vehicle. light blue late model p

that's where ktvu's tara moriarty is now with some details. tara? >> reporter: well, several neighbors witnessed this accident and they describe it as very traumatizing. that's because the little girl was hit right here in front of the apartments and dragged for- a -- for half a block. concord police say that the driver struck the 4-year-old girl as she was crossing the street in front of her home around 6:30 last night. now, reportedly he initially stopped but then continued moving dragging the girl for a few yards and then the girl got loose and fled. when crews -- the little girl was airlifted to children's hospital in oakland suffering major injuries to her foot and head. >> obviously, you have to know if you hit something, you will feel it. i don't any why they didn't have the heart to stop -- i don't know why they didn't have the heart to stop. it's not like you are gonna go to jail. it was an accident. >> reporter: the vehicle was a light blue vehicle with oversized tires. it does not have a camper shell. you can see here the very busy inters
