first one is how the building looks and how it reacts on beach street. this one actually is on hide. you see the outlines of the buildings on hyde street on the lower portion, and how our building reacts with those. you can see our stepdown portion in the rear of the building and that we in fact are lower than the majority of those buildings. the upper image shows our building with relationship to north point street. the north point street buildings vary in height anywhere from a couple low ones, but some of them as high as 56 feet. our building is two feet high relative or three feet high relative to that facade. so we've tried to be a good neighbor and take into account context, height bulk, no variances. would be happy to answer any other questions if you have any. we do have a 3-d model of the entire neighborhood. with our building dropped into it that we use to study the neighborhood and how our building fits in. so there you sort of see it in context. commission, the project sponsors are the owners of the blagse saddles bike rental project and it's

usually it runs out to the ocean but the wet weather pushed it toward the beach. we have video to show you exactly what's going on. the water is washed away, a wooden staircase at the boardwalk here and if the water seeps under the boardwalk's retaining wall it could cause a lot of damage. a spokesperson said that the water had never come this close to the park. the park spent a good part of the day yesterday using earth movers to build up sand on the beach trying to block that water. so far the river has only caused a few thousand dollars in damage but with more storms in the forecast, everyone here in santa cruz certainly is keeping their eyes on the forecast and on the river. now we're going to be moving around here a little bit more trying to get a view of that. the maintenance worker i spoke with said you actually can't see where the river has turned right and moved it's way up to the boardwalk and you can't see it now because the park isn't open and because it's private property you can't get to where the damage is. we'll get as close as we can and we'll try

you can see it running right there against the retaining wall on the backside of the beach boardwalk and that is what is causing the problems out here. usually that river runs directly out to the ocean but now, since we've had all the rain over the last couple of days, it actually pushed the river out of it's regular channel a little bit to the west and is running along the backside of the park. it has already washed away one wooden stairway. i spoke with a maintenance worker when he first arrived here and he told me you can see the staircase out in the baby daylight. if that water continues to run along the retaining wall it could undermine that wall and cause a lot of damage. now the boardwalk spokesperson said that the water has never come this close to the park. coming out to our live picture, you might just be able to make out one of the earth movers there. now the personnel here at the park have been using the earth movers, trying to push sand out into the channel, trying to redirect the river. that work seems to be working there but you can see that the water is up here along t
