it's hazy and still looking good along the peninsula and the south bay. dense fog reported in the santa rosa area. you have a half mile of visibility where as yesterday you were dealing with about a quarter of a mile. cool, but not as cold as it has been. about 5 degrees warmer than at this time yesterday because of cloud cover from the south. 39 degrees in concord and 40 in san francisco. today's highs will be warm relative to where they have been. temperatures will about 10 degrees between now and noon. you are looking at 50 degrees in concord as you take your lunch break. maybe you are bringing your lunch. you can eat it outside. 59 in oakland and 58 in san jose. 55 degrees in gilroy. you want to take it easy in a couple of location where is the fog is pretty thick. we will talk about that when we get to traffic. look at the extended forecast. 59 on sunday. sun and clouds and not as much sunshine as we had, but that will keep the overnights more tolerable and warmer. let's talk traffic. the couple of spots we have fog, we want to let you know about. 88

mid to upper 50s on the peninsula. o downtown san francisco, mid-50s a lot like yesterday. 49 clear lake, 51 san rafael. mid-50s the rest of the north bay. the warmest weather the monterey bay. 25 napa the cool spot. low 30s through the valleys with that freezing fog possible. about 42 san francisco. we'll deal with freezing fog thursday and probably friday morning. lesser extent over the weekend. still a lot of sunshine in the afternoon. a few patchy clouds and temperatures low to mid-50s for afternoon highs. here's frances with too much water. >> a lot of water in castro valley. pictures from the scene, courtesy of steve's sister, our cameraman there. the water main break, east castro valley boulevard. several inches of water in the roadway. apparently there's rocks and sediment but they are providing traffic control in the area so it means you can still get by. you might need to slow down as you make your way out of castro valley. there's the location just north of 580. freeway traffic completely unaffected. in fact,

the peninsula off of highway 92 saw slowing through san mateo. right now a look at the san mateo bridge shows a clear view across the span and 92 doesn't show any fog but there is fog throughout much of the bay area and that will be appear issue later on in the morning as well. >> let's check in with christina and see when it might clear. >> we're looking at 10:00 a.m. for the north bay. if you're trying to get into southern california, even headed up to sacramento today, just count on foggy conditions. very dangerous driving conditions through there with visibilities reduced to less than a quarter of a mile for almost the entire stretch of i-5 between bakersfield all the way up to yuba city this morning. it's moving very, very slow. keep that in mind. we're looking pretty good along the peninsula. we don't have a lot of fog developing in the peninsula or the south bay. the east bay, we do have fog and also pretty dense fog up in the north bay as well as freezing conditions. so the factor of freezing fog will be the case until 10:00 a.m. up there.

while the ring of kerry on the iveragh peninsula is the most famous drive, those in the know say dinglehe roads on dingle are narrower. so far fewer buses brave its twists and turns. you can stop by dingle town, a pretty port that's home to a large number of fishermen, and pick up a map at the tourist office. dingle is rolling panorama of dramatic cliffs, grazing sheep, and historic ruins. the area is so atmospheric that it was chosen as the setting for such hollywood movies as "ryan's daughter" and "far and away"... and it has the greatest concentration of ancient sites in this part of ireland. the doonbeg fort dates to 400 b.c. people and animals huddled for safety in these rooms built of piled stones. yes, western ireland is thoroughly littered with stones, and it seems that every successive group that passed through here found a different way in which to pile them. these beehive-shaped huts were built during the early christian period. they're so durable that, until recently, local farmers still used them to keep animals. the small chapel of gallarus oratory has stood resolutely her

and those are the offshore winds that push the fog from the east bay towards the peninsula. we are socked in this morning in the north bay. and it is starting to get a little worse in the east bay. i think that some of that fog will drift towards the peninsula heading throughout this morning. we have less than a quarter of a mile in santa rosa and novato. we are seeing viz. come down in livermore and concord. fog is drifting around out there. keep that in mind, take it easy. once you hit the afternoon lunch break we should see mostly clear conditions. and these numbers will jump up from the low 40s to upper 30s into the mid-50s. rounding out the day at 60 degrees in oakland and napa. 60 in almaden valley. looking good all the way throughout the week. i'll gradually climb in temperatures each and every day. we'll talk more about what's to come in terms of the warmest cities coming up later. let's go to my favorite traffic reporter -- >> chopped liver. you missed brent and laura on friday but i was right over here. >>> okay, folks. we'll go out to livermore. eastbound we have
