we are at the west county jail here in richmond. this is really the only detention facility for undocumented immigrants in the bay area. actually, the facility has a contract with i.c.e. and this is where they jail them. under a new state law the sanctuary state law local law enforcement agencies aren't supposed to communicate when they release undocumented immigrants or really any information with i.c.e. but according to some attorneys here in the county, the county is finding a way around it by tipping off i.c.e. agents about the release dates by publishing them online. in january the sanctuary state law came in effect. on february 18th, contra costa county began publishing the release dates of all inmates, including undocumented immigrants. sanctuary state law sb54 prohibits local law enforcement from sharing information with immigration authorities and typically including release dates. we spoke to an attorney and she said publishing the release dates of prisoners is an open invitation to i.c.e. to pick up undocumented immigrants

we will start to see heavier pockets moving through berkeley, the richmond area seeing some of that rain as well, mill valley, san rafael all seeing that light rain right now, same with san jose and even down through the santa cruz mountains. we've still got plenty of moisture. within the next hour or so we will continue to see this system moving through the bay area, trekking its way through for the next couple hours. so you definitely want to take some extra time out on the roads. right now...
