we're seeing it in the sierra. as i get closer here, notice we're fairly quiet out there picking up a few returns in the hills east of san jose. the system that brought us the scattered showers yesterday even a few thunderstorms in areas over contra costa county now over in and around southern california and shifting east. it's making a quick move at this point. the lingering showers will be primarily for the sierra at this point and for the central valley. we on the other hand will be mainly dry with maybe a few scattered showers for the afternoon and that should really be about it. the winds are onshore at fairfield, 14 miles an hour. and i do expect that onshore breeze to continue. so a light breeze in store for the afternoon coming in from  the pacific. temperatures could feel muggy out there because we're mild. we're right where we should be. 69 walnut creek. 66 in novato. 67 sfo right now. low 60s redwood city, upper 60s in mountain view. let me show you what i expect for the day. as we move into the afterno

i want to point something out with a lot of showers and thunderstorms in the sierra and over the sierra over the past couple of days. the low pressure area that got us on monday and tuesday have been sitting over nevada throwing back unstable air. good thing that they are in the way as we have not seen any showers, but the fair share of the morning cloud cover because of the on shore flow has been moderate as it will be lighter over the weekend with the high pressure getting stronger and closer to us. less of an an shore flow that means more sunshine, milder weather. the two mildest days of the next week will be on saturday and sunday and 70s near the bay and 80s away from the water. next week things will change. high pressure brings to break out and that will enhance that on shore flow as we will be cooler and clouder starting next tuesday. what to expect? we'll still see those clouds at the coastline. otherwise we'll be mainly sunny this weekend and the warmest day on sunday, trending a little cooler next week. mid-80s away from the water tomorrow. concordat 84. san jose, 83. and san

look at the spine of the sierra nevada surrounding lake tahoe. snow showers and our snow levels are very high. as you can imagine, temps in the bay area are in the 60s. very unusual to see that. that's exactly what we are working with this morning. we have light isolated activity in the north bay. showers have been pretty light. we have had enough moisture come through to make the highways a little bit on the slick side. you do want to travel cautiously as we head throughout the day. we haven't had any significant rainfall recently. that tends to slicken up the rhodes a little bit. that losens up all the oil that's been accumulating. as we stop the clock on your futurecast, 9:00 a.m., a little bit more activity on the south bay. mostly going to see the action on the east and south end of the bay area. we might see stray showers up in the north bay as we head throughout the day. basically, pesky showers. you probably want to bring an umbrella with you. not expecting anything too heavy. no puddles or ponding. enough to get your clothes nice and wet.
