the east bay. it will be moving into the south b bay. to the tri-valley with waves of heavy downpours that could produce lightning and make visibility very poor. throughout the day, it's coming in waves. it will be off and on. if you wait about 30 to 40 minutes, the rain may back off if it's raining heavily at that time. at 4:00, the evening commute is so much better as the rain will be lighter and not as widespread as we're seeing this morning. expect the rain in waves and a few isolated thunderstorms. there's also wind advisory in effect. and for the coast those waves may reach up to 25 feet. for our burn scars, especially for the mendocino complex and camp fire, there's a flood watch in effect. we also wanted to see how things are going in the santa cruz mountain, so we sent vianey with a look at how cars are making it on 17. how is it looking? >> reporter: it's moving along. now that we're starting to get the sunrise, not much in the way of sun because it's so cloudy. the visibility is improving since the rain stopped. we got periods

in the south bay we have a solo car crash. the vehicle hit the center divide and flipped over to its side. two lanes are now blocked northbound 280 near 7th street. emergency crews are on the scene. and as you can see, our sensors are dipping just below the limit there but not looking too bad in some areas about 46 miles per hour. on southbound 280 in daly city, we have another rollover crash. it's not affecting the main lines of the freeway but one lane is blocked on that west borrow boulevard off-ramp. and in sausalito, we are getting first reports of a solo spinout. it is blocking one lane right now and so far, your drive down to the golden gate bridge is not affected. it looks like on 101 from 580 to the golden gate bridge it's going to take you about 11 minutes. >>> it is already raining in parts of the bay area. but we are preparing for an even bigger storm tomorrow and tonight that system will pack a quadruple punch. we are already seeing the effects of rain, wind, snow and surf. in marin rain triggered a small rockslide

it starts out in the north bay, moves to the south.e'll have a stronger storm moving in between wednesday night and thursday, and at that time, we may see some gusty winds, and some heavy mountain rains and changing over to snow in the sierra, and that surf will be quite high for the coastal areas. as we look at how much rain we could see with these two systems moving in this week, we're looking at the possibility of rain totals and the south bay at about half of an inch. three-quarters to an inch in parts of the east bay and the north bay over an inch of rain. sierra snow will start to be quite light because we're going to see this initially beginning as rain, changing over to snow, as it tapers off, so about four to nine inches and as we go into the week, we will have a couple of dry days that will be today and friday. the rest of the week at some point we'll have a chance of rain. we'll talk more about that, but mike, you're tracking the issue on the bay bridge. >> on the span itself. the toll plaza metering lights were on in time a

in the east bay and parts of the tri valley, roads are fairly dry and some of the rain for the south bay now moving off towards the hills, while the peninsula is catching a break from some of the lighter showers. as we widen out the view, you can see we have not only one but two storm systems approaching and we'll talk more about that coming up and also a closer look at this, but mike, the lanes are blocked at the bay bridge? what's happening? >> for a portion of i-80 at the berkeley curve, i moved our emeryville camera around there. behind my name it's cleared, we see the berkeley curve, for folks in the commute headed out of berkeley and bay bridge. you see the stream of headlights and the flashing lights, that's eastbound 880 away from the been been to the berkeley curve that is completely blocked from what i'm told and i can see. there is a crash, minor injuries. we're checking with chp how long are they anticipating it takes to clear this crash. lot of folks were able to get to southbound 880 coming off of the bridge itself. the problem is the backup that's forming there toward t

and then here we are at 8:30, seeing some of that moving into parts of the east bay and the south bayd still not really going for the north bay until later on tonight. we're going to see the waves of rain coming through throughout tomorrow, and also into the afternoon. and during this time, our winds will start to pick up and that will cause some high waves for the coast and also those winds that may gust up to 50 miles per hour. we're looking at the possibility of getting about 1 to possibly 2 inches of rain and maybe higher in some spots. a live look at northstar, fresh coating of snow on the ground. and there is more on the way with kirkwood reaching as well as kingville, 2 feet of snow. and we're still going to have more rain in the forecast heading into the weekend. our seven-day forecast shows another round of showers, especially on saturday morning, and then drying out for sunday into monday. by tuesday, we'll be tracking another storm system. looks pretty good to see all of this rain, and we'll have more live updates throughout the day. marcus and laura? >> thanks, kari. >>> c
