let's check in with meteorologist tim williams with more on that severe weather. tim? >> reporter: vic, as we were just showing you, you see how these storms are popping up. there were storms reported in hagerstown. hagerstown regional airport, reported those storms last night. severe thunderstorms in the area, with visibility issues. now, if you take a look at hagerstown, just to the north of your screen, top of your screen, you see how one wave moved through around 10:30 last night. then as the night progressed, from about 10:00 to 10:30. another storm system ballooned with strong storms and gusty winds. and very heavy rains, right there. that's what happened last night, right around 10:30. again, it's the same type of scenario we have developing here this evening. we'll continue to keep you updated on the cause of this storm, should that be involved in this investigation. vic? >> okay, tim. thank you very much. >>> wjz 13 is always on. check in with eyewitness news for complete coverage of this deadly helicopter crash. for the latest on this investigation and additi

over to tim in the first warning weather center. tim. >> a pretty big contrast in the sky.s pretty bright. very heavy clouds. the result of storms that rolled through here yesterday and lingering is all that moisture. the clouds are pretty heavy. we will be dealing with that off and on throughout the day. we will see some sun. the sun won't necessarily be our friend. with all the sun in the atmosphere the storm concentrates the heat and the storms flare up. watching that through the afternoon. 68 at bwi marshall. 66 the dew point and northwest wind at 3 miles per hour. 29.84 and steady is the barometer reading. temperatures across the state, 61 in oakland. 67 in elkton. 77 down in ocean city. and around the metro area, primarily the mid- to upper 60s to the low 70s. 70s down in annapolis and kent island. the northwest wind is going to be just ahead of a front that will be pushing its way through here, through the afternoon. with all that moisture in place and the warm temperatures up into the low to mid-80s. that front is going to start to mix that. and we can see some thun

guest: tim, a couple of things. first of all, when we reduced marginal tax rates, the reagan tax cuts, it was parallel to the kennedy tax cuts. kennedy had tax cuts of 22% across the board at all tax rate. ronald reagan's was 25% across the board on all rates. so if you want to make a partisan point, ragan's tax reduction looked very -- was parallel to the one that john f. kennedy performed. second, there was tremendous job creation. you talk about the recession of 1983. that may be the democratic party's talking points, but it does not really work. we created 4 million jobs in 1983. 1983, when the reagan tax cuts took effect, that is when the recovery took effect. that is when the job boom that continued for more than a decade began. so we had strong economic growth. yes, the government spent too much during that period of time, and we had deficits. again, the commerce spends the map -- the congress spends the money. if you want to get control of spending, you have to get control of congress. at our website, atr.or

tim has a look at how the temperatures have been fairing this month of july. tim? >> you know, bob. in weather world, we typically don't talk about normal temperatures. we talk about average temperatures. that's because especially in july, you can have 90s. you can have 70s. and that is why it has felt so comfortable these last few days. our graphic here gives you an idea of what we have been dealing with for the first eight days in july so far. we have been on average of 3.9, almost 4 degrees below the average or normal temperature this time of year. typically, we'd be averaging around 87 degrees. we have been 80, 82. like we are today. and these temperatures are more like early june, late may type temperatures. typically these are the dog days of summer from around july 3rd to about august 11th, the hottest days. but with the low humidity and humidity. -- temperature. we'll take it any day of the week. bob will have your complete updated forecast coming up. >>> a new near drowning has brought focus to a small dam on an teetam creek. the state is looking into the possibility of rem

welcome back to tim. >> we're looking at rain moving through the region. it is very humid out there right now. so any storms have a good bit of energy to work with. we have some riding along the maryland-delaware line, just around cambridge and salisbury and moving up to the north. and then out to the west, just across cumberland. some of these are lighter, but they're still moving in nonetheless. we'll keep an eye on all of this activity. currently is 72 degrees at b. w. i. very high and the humidity level reflects it. the wins are from the east at six miles per hour. the barometer is now at 29.98. across the state, 64 in oakland. we do have 80 down in ocean city. 69 in elkton and typically when the temperatures are pretty warm, it is because of -- the rain has not moved through or maybe has not cooled it down a bit. but ocean city, right around 80 degrees. we have seen rain and it is still warm down on the shore. 69 in westminster. 73 in d.c. and 72 over on kent island. >> across the state, seeing rain coming in from two directions and this was a large m
