johnson's lead. and tony evers and tim michels, deadlocks. in michigan, the cnn poll gives gretchen whitmer a six point lead over republican tudor dixon. two new polls showing a dead heat in the race to fill ohio's open senate seat. according to the latest spectrum news, republican j.d. vance and democratic congressman tim ryan even at 46% with 6% of likely voters undecided. that's a 3 point game for vance since last month. in another new poll, vance leads ryan by just one point. that's within the margin of error. that poll, 8% of registered voters say they still are undecided. so things tightening quickly. new hampshire getting interesting as well. republicans have closed gap there too, joe. >> you look at all of these races. gene robinson, i think pennsylvania is tighter than the cnn polls show. at least the majority of polls show the senate race being two, three points going into the race tonight. wisconsin, tied in the cincinnati. we had seen a marquette poll showing ron johnson up six. that's probably well outside the margin of error. th

. >> reporter: joining me in london is tim bale, professor of politics at queen mary university of london. let's discuss how johnson'sthdrawal is going to play out. we have not yet heard from the mordaunt camp about anything to do with her dropping out. one presumes that mordaunt is trying to pick up enough supporters to secure that 100 vote count. how much of a moral dilemma is that going to present to mordaunt? if she reaches that, we know she would potentially go through to the members who may end up picking her over the will of the mps here. >> well, i might regret saying this, but i don't think there's very much chance she will pick up sufficient nominations to go through. i think it's fairly clear now that the momentum is behind rishi sunak. i think many of those who might have thought of moving across to mordaunt will be thinking now about jobs under rishi sunak and will be more likely to break for him than for her. there is still some bad blood towards sunak among those who resented his role in ditching boris johnson. but i think most people can now see the writing on the wall. >> we know, of course, sunak pr

johnson, jd vance, doctor oz, herschel walker. i'm not that worried about senator kennedy or rand paul or tim scott in south carolina. but i don't take anything for granted. where do you see this coming down at the end of the day? what republicans will get control of the senate? >> i do. i think we will win both houses. i put the chances of our winning the house at north of 90%. i think there is a real chance we don't just win the house but we win with a big majority, something like 30, 40 or 50 seats in the senate. i put our odds of winning the senate at about 65-35. we are 2-1 favorite to win. i would predict we come out at 53 republicans. you mentioned that i am in the middle of a month-long 17 state bus tour. we started seven days ago. we started in tomball, texas just north of houston. we went down to the rio grande valley. we did rallies and then we went to new mexico and did a big rally. then we went to arizona and did two rallies in tucson and phoenix. then we went to nevada and did a big rally in las vegas. now we are in utah. from utah we go on to missouri and kansas and iowa and ohio and pennsylvania and v

johnson is back up by 4 points. meanwhile, that state's governor's race looks to be tied up. timells and democratic governor tony evers pulling 47% of the vote. georgia, pennsylvania, nevada all getting closer. let's discuss this with executive director of the senate many working group james -- and republican strategist chris proud home. let's go through some of these races. talk to me about wisconsin, chris. so ron johnson, we've got the governor's race, what's going on? >> it's going to be a very interesting race, as a matter of fact. look, the reality is this, all ron johnson has to do is talk about crime. crime has increased over 30% nationwide, absolutely absurd. the reality of the fact is this: his opponent did a big defunding, in the campaign, is a big advocate, took a lot of money from groups. so his focus, i would simply say focus, continue to talk about crime and how important it is to stop that because, obviously, subsequent to his tenure as lieutenant governor. will: it's such a fascinating, what you're highlighting is that politics is always local, and the issues tha

tim ryan. wisconsin had the senate race, we were just talking about it. mandela barnes, ron johnson.nt. we were talking about could biden win ohio. biden seemed to be in control and wisconsin, 6. 7 was his average lead. there was a poll that had him up 17 points, close to the election, one poll. here is what actually happened in those states. biden did win wisconsin, but by a whisker. there was a polling miss of six points on average. trump did win ohio, but he won it easily, over eight points, a polling missed there of over seven points. that is the question a lot of people have been asking here. especially looking at the senate races in hawkeye oh and wisconsin. when you look at the polling, has the polling been missing something in these midwest states. have the pollsters figure out what it is? what is going on in those midwestern states in particular? joining us now is the perfect person to ask. he is charles, franklin a professor of law and probably policy at marquette university. he is director of the best poll in was confident. marquette poll they were just out this week. char

tim scott. not worried about him. ted is running a good campaign. dr. oz has to win if the republicans have any shot at taking back the senate. we have ron johnson joining us later and j.d. vance and schmidt and masters and tiffany smiley in washington. what do you see on the ground? you know elections. >> i think there enormous energy. i think we will retake both the house and senate and end up with a big majority in the range of 30 to 50 seats when is historic. on the order of what we saw in 2010. that election is coming in november. in the senate i think we will take the majority and i think we could be anywhere between 51 and 57 seats. i predict right now 53 or 54 is where i think the senate is. what is striking, where you are going and where i am going. you know who is not doing that? joe biden is nobody to be found in georgia, nevada or arizona or new hampshire or ohio or n north carolina. why? because none of the democrats running want to be anywhere near him. they are running away from the failed agenda of the radical left. that says something when the president of the united states is a mill stone around the neck of these democrat candi

johnson and his democratic challenger mandela barnes are statistically tied. meanwhile, the state side, wisconsin's democratic governor and his republican challenger tim michaels are also deadlocked within the margin of error. in michigan, the poll gives democratic governor gretchen whitmer a six point lead in her election fight over tudor dixon. there are two new polls this morning that show a dead heat in the race to fill ohio's open senate seat. according to the latest spectrum news survey, republican j.d. vance and tim ryan at 46%. that is a three point gain for vance since last month. and in another new poll this one from maris college, vance leads ryan by one point. 8% saying they're still undecided. we now turn to the first and only debate between florida governor ron desantis and former florida governor charlie crist. contentious night. they sparred on a number of issues including culture wars, immigration, and the speculation that desantis may run for president in 2024. >> i thought what the governor did was a horrible political stunt. you know, we have an immigration problem. we have a problem with the border. we need to secure the border. i agree wi

tim ryan, but not by a huge margin. this is a race i think -- we're not talking about it as much as we should. he's running into someone named sherry beasley. ron johnson, this surprises me. up 3.4%. why? because he was behind the lieutenant governor this summer. johnson has run an effective campaign. if we started at the beginning of the election cycle and said who is the most endangered? kelly and warnock would be the two, but kelly has maintained a solid lead here, and there are questions as to whether republicans are fully committed to the republican nominee, blake masters. if we add that up, that's three races here, four races here, seven. i think that's where the senate majority is going to get decided. >> so we got those seven races there. at this point, what races seem less likely to flip? >> victor, i call them sleeper states. i don't want to say it's impossible because i've learned covering elections over time nothing is impossible. until all the votes get counted, i don't want to say this is a loss or this is a win, but these are unlikely to flip. new hampshire was a state -- maggie hassan had weak numbers and it was really targeted. governo
