alison: the montgomery county police department is finally putting body cameras out on the street. the cameras will go to hundreds of officers. how much will this cost? tim the first year it will cost about a million bucks, but officers already have cameras in their cruisers, such as this one. they have had them since about 2009. during that time, these cameras have captured hours of terrifying video. the cameras are now a major part and thislture,c summer, body cameras like this will be a major part of the montgomery county police department. this person is split on the idea because the program is expected to cost taxpayers roughly $1 million during the first year. >> but for that one chance to see something that may not have gone the way it was supposed to, it is worth it. tim: last year the department handed out 85 votto cameras -- 85 body cameras as part of a pilot program. he will have 850 on the street this summer. is producing evidence that is keeping criminals off the streets. officers have an app to see what is recording and make sure that it is pointing in the right direction. after they are done with an incident, they can review the video. but
