i'm with one treasure island. i'd like the share with you some of the results from our first training cycle. the first training cycle, we had 35 folks who have expressed an interest and we were able to enroll 15 of them. of the 15 of them, 75% of them graduated from the programme, which is 11. of the 11, 75% also got employed by echobay. and so that is about eight of them that got employed by echobay. the other three didn't get employed because they didn't pass the drug tests. however, we continuously work with them and work with in collaboration with city bill and refer them to other jobs so they did get other placement and other construction jobs. of the eight that were hired by echobay, 90%, which is seven of them, is still currently employed with echobay after 90 days. so, those are some of the datas with regards to the first training cycles. also i'll speak about why the programme has been so successful. sherry had mentioned earlier this is a fantastic community, public-private partnership. they have a social

for one treasure island residents, we had a separate f.a.q. addressing their transition housing opportunities in the future as well. so last week, arws opened their resource centre on the island, which is in one of the residential units and they're having office hours on tuesdays, fridays and every other saturday. we'll adapt this as we go forward to people in needs in terms of those tuesdays and fridays, including both daytime and evening hours. so we try to make this as accommodating as possible. one of the outcomes of the initial interviews and from the workshop is there is a tremendous interest in homeownership. so, some of that is in market rate ownership, but also in the possibilities of inclusionary, affordable ownership. so, we're expecting a robust turnout for the may workshop. and we're looking at potentially having an additional open house between now and the may workshop to provide people more information on the criteria and the certification process be in a position to potentially purchase an affordable inclusionary unit. in the me

not many of us get to visit treasure island as often as we should. they have beautiful views, by the way. and this is probably a very good week to go on the island because of the weather. but it is really an amazing community. you go there after school at 3:30 or 4:00 p.m., and kids are just running around the neighborhood. you know, without adult supervision. it's just amazing to see that in san francisco, that that kind of community exists here. it's both urban and also just really just small community neighborhood. and everyone knows each other. and we have such a nice community there because of leaders like lashandra who makes sure that she knows all of her neighbors and that all of her neighbors know each other and talk to one another. with the departure of some of our community-based organizations on treasure island, it really is important that we invest in our families on this island. and the data shows that along with mission bay and the bayview, this is where our youth population will be growing the most significantly. and before i leave as d

turning to training, i was able to go out and visit our treasure island facility last week. chief columbini took me out there, and i met with the entire staff, as well as with the recruits, and as you probably already know, the staff out there, ems, inservice, and the training staff are just very dedicated and work so hard to ensure that people are well prepared -- that we're all prepared to do our jobs. the chief stated the 123rd academy is in their 18th week right now. what they're doing is apparatus and pump operations, so they're learning that, i believe this week and next week. so how to operate the pump, how to give water, get water at a fire, how to troubleshoot, what our standard operating procedures are. the graduation is february 8th, reardon high school, 6:00 p.m. the chief already spoke with the h-3, l-1 ambulance emt class. it is a six-week class, two weeks in the classroom, four weeks in the field. the fire reserves, which is also under training, they put in 250 volunteer hours primarily with local 798 and 62 drill or training hours. also, the d.o.t. this week,

treasure island, etc. which brings us to vehicles a loved topic. i want to slow you all what and i think you are are well aware of the dire situation in our fleet. we have had -- i want to point out in 2012 we had 330 patrol cars. we are now at 309 because we keep retiring cars because they are so beat up or totaled or not functioning any more such that we are retiring them faster than we can replace them, and not to mention that 32% of patrol cars are over 10 years old and 32% are over 100,000 miles. you go to the unmarked cars and we are even worse off. 82% of our unmarked fleet is over 10 years old. it is kind of unheard of in other police departments to have cars running this long. specialty vehicles again 74% of our fleet is over 10 years old. we are requesting 169 vehicles as an order of magnitude, we received 70 in the budge net the current fiscal year. we are asking for a lot of cars. it totals $10.4 million. >>> moving to the technology request. we have requested funding for case management systems and these are all enhancement goes to the
