trump trade adviser peter navarro. he has not been shy about his efforts to overturn the 2020 election. he has actually written an entire book about it and given numerous interviews including more than one with my colleague ari melber right on this network. his face says it all in this interview. and pushing to overturn the election results. but tonight mr. navarro seems suddenly reticent when it comes to talking about the january 6th investigation. he says he cannot possibly speak to them without donald trump's permission. and so they need to go talk to trump's lawyers. that's not how a subpoena works. but okay. we'll be keeping an eye on that. also tonight, you remember that story we brought you earlier this week about the national archives discovering that donald trump took 15 boxes of white house records to his golf club when he left office? and how the archives had to get those boxes back because donald trump was not allowed to take them in the first place? well, now the archives has asked the justice department t

trump was trying to arrange it federally. people who supported trump actually tried to carry it out locally in several places. i mean dar leaf, that sheriff in barry county, michigan, he wasn't even the only person in michigan who tried it. this story is just insane. it's playing out in part this week in court. this is out of cross village township in michigan, which is at the very, very tippy top of the mitten, if you think of the lower peninsula as the mitten. in january, 2021, right after the election, a woman from cross village township phoned out a guy who ran a computer technician business and calling from the election integrity commission and voting to collect voting data from voting machines from across the state of michigan and needed her help and there was one voting machine in the state that she was having trouble accessing, the one in cross village township where she is from and said the machine was not connected to the internet so she could not access the data she r-she needed him to physically go to the machine,

but trump didn't stop there. in fact, he also reportedly asked the attorney general if the doj could seize the machines. barr shot that proposal down. trump then tried to persuade state lawmakers in key states to use their local law enforcement agencies to take control of voting machines. but they, too, refused to go along with his plan. trump directly trying to find ways to seize voting machines in states where he lost, revealing that he was more involved than previously known. in fact, "the new york times" also reporting on new vealed oval office meetings where trump and his legal team discussed these options. we'll have more on that in a moment. is and cnn reporting two versions of the executive order were drawn up for different agencies to carry out showing the extent that trump went to steal this election. more desperate and unlawful attempts. we know the january 6th committee has over 700 documents from inside the white house that trump tried to hide. now some of his records, believe it or not, were torn up
