and a perfect example of that, don, is ultrabooks.et used to hearing this word bused around a lot in 2012. we saw a few ultrabooks in 2011, but 2012, we're going to see a ton more. a acer and also dell debuting their ultrabooks at ces. around $1,000 in price for the consumer. and also very thin. less than 1/8 of an inch thick. and intel estimates that 40% of all laptops will be ultrabooks this year. but one of the showstoppers was the samsung oled 50-inch tv. you have to see it in person to see the dynamic picture quality, but really amazing in sheer size and also in contrast, but also thousand thin it was. lg and samsung will be announcing those later in 2012. that was a big show-stopper. we talk about connected. have to get this one in. one of the big themes, connectivity. it's all about having our devices better connected. now, i have to tell you, in the past, ces has showcased a lot of different home appliances and it was kind of a snooze fest. we've seen these before. this year, home connectivity really stepped it up. smart washe

next up, one of the big buzz words at c.e.s. 2012 -- ultrabooks. this is what an ultrabook is -- a super-thin and lightweight computer that delivers a lot of performance. this is the h.p. envy 14 scepter -- or spectre, rather -- that gives an outstanding performance despite the fact that it's only .79 inches thin. it's powered by an intel core i5 processor. it's got that gorilla glass finish, so it's very durable, and it's got wireless technologies including near-field communication. you take a compatible nfc smartphone, tap the screen, and it will exchange information wirelessly. very cool stuff. this is $1,300 coming out next month, february 2012. last but not least, photography -- very hot here at consumer electronics show every year. now, get this. this is now in your pocket. this is the bloggie live h.d., the first wi-fi h.d. camcorder for your pocket. so, not only can you wirelessly upload your video to your favorite website, like youtube or facebook, but you can even stream live in real time. so, that means you're broadcasting. you have your

so one of the things i'm looking for though is a big emergence of windows 8 powered tablets and ultrabooks which are these very light notebooks that compete with the macbook air for example. windows 8 isn't out but we'll be getting previews of it. it should be well polished to debut this summer. one big difference is the metro interface we have on screen right now. this is a very different look and feel to how you operate windows. you see a lot of tiles on the screen and that's very different than the sort of start button, menu, my computer stuff. you don't have to run it in this screen but on a tablet that makes a lot of sense. on a desktop or laptop, you can drop to this mode if you want or go back to a more traditional windows screen so it will have a mobile as well as computer dna in it. another thing i'm watch for is television. this is a huge television show. >> they have morphed so much. >> the changes are amazing every year. this year i'm looking for 4k. it doubles the resolution of our current 1080p television, the next big thing in resolution as if you needed more resolution. >>
