so the usgs says this. we're aware that there have been multiple quakes reported that met the threshold for shake alert powered alert delivery. we'll talk about that in a second. they say we're looking into what happened as soon as we have something more definitive, we will report back. so will we. the usgs went on to say this. if you're wondering why you did or did not get a shake alert, it's all about the alerting threshold. now, if you have an app on your phone, it has to be magnitude 4.5 or above and shaking intensity 3 or above. which it was. well, that's why they have those questions. now, then there's the separate bit, which is where you get the alert on your phone which is like an ambert alert. that's wireless emergency elurt. in that case, it has to be magnitude 5.0 or greater. in this case, it seems that the preliminary magnitude was too low to trigger that. though again, the usgs is looking into what happened. while i have your attention, let me remind you there are two apps that you can get here

this is the map that the usgs is putting together tracking more than 200 after shocks since yesterday's quake just before 4:00 p.m. it was centered south of lake tahoe. this morning after shocks in the area have been continuing, many in the two to three magnitude range. here is some of the mess left behind in rket ended up with broken glass on the floor, some art damaged. the owner said it felt like somebody picked up the building and dropped it. since there aren't censors in the area the shake alert app took a while to catch up when it hit censors in more populated areas farther away. >> there were some issued on the app but it took a few minutes for people who review to see it was a larger magnitude six and update information accordingly. >> it triggered rock slides. this is from highway 395. some of the rocks hit cars. luckily nobody was injured, cal trans working through the night to clear the area. it has since reopened. luckily no injuries reported from the quake or after shocks. this is a good reminder for all of us that this can happen at any time. >> thank you. >>> a plan unvei
