so far it's not raining there yet, is it, vianey >> reporter: not yet. it was sprinkling on our drive up here, but it has calmed down just a bit. because it is a cold storm, the daytime highs will only top out in the 20s in the sierra, which means snow is on the way. let me give you an idea how much we are expecting not just into tonight but the next couple of days in terms of travel conditions. this is definitely one you want to look out for. a mix of showers pretty much in the higher elevations, above 8,000 feet is where we will see the most accumulations. anywhere from 16 to 18 inches through tomorrow 11:30 p.m. the rest of the areas could see seven to eight inches. now, if i take this all the way through monday, which means not only just tonight's storm into tomorrow's storm, but also the additional storm that is expected into saturday, we're talking two inches for some of the higher tops and 25 inches for some others. overall, pretty good snow accumulations. just to give you an idea why this is so rare. the last time that we typically see it snow or

the rain is behind us for now, right, vianey? >> certainly.nd you're right, with the cloud cover and the cooler temperatures, it makes for a peaceful start that will eventually turn into a sunny afternoon. 5 in san jose. as you head out the door, 53 in morgan hill. chillier in the north bay. 49 in santa rosa. don't wear a heavy coat. wear layers. mass transit, we will be in the 60s by 10:00 a.m. notice the cloud cover icons. we will keep the cloud cover through 11:00 a.m. right around the time that you head out for lunch, the skies will part from the clouds and will welcome in upper 60s. so it will warm up nicely into the 70s and low 80s. how are the roads, mike? >>> well, the cars are not parting, they're gathering. we see the traditional blip 101 through san jose, 280, 680. this is not traditional slowing niles canyon. for locals, you know where the area is. you have to turn around to get back to mission, which is clear toward 680. slowing for highway 4, port chicago highway. earlier crash caused backup at the toll plaza where metering light
