but we begin with nbc 10's matt delucia live in west philadelphia. walk us through what happened. >> reporter: first off in the past 30 minutes police cleared the scene, removed the police cruiser, took down the crime tape and now 60th and spruce reopened. it was there at this intersection, police say that 60th and spruce, police car was riddled with bullets and the police commissioner says it's amazing that this officer is alive. take a closer look at the car as i tell you what went down. this is last night, video here of that police car. 18th district officer jesse hartnett was in uniform driving that marked vehicle on 60th street when a man started firing a gun into the driver's side window. he was able to get close enough that at one point this guy was shooting his gun inside the police car. the commissioner says at least 13 rounds were fired at the officer before he managed to get shots off at the suspect himself and injure him. other officers were able to catch that suspect just down the road and the commissioner richard ross not each a week in
