he was always a proud son of west virginia. on june 9, woody williams passed away at the grand age of 98. tomorrow rightfully he will become just the seventh american and the first west virginian to lie in honor in the united states capitol rotunda. it's a well-deserved recognition for a man from humble division. woody was the youngest of 11 children. i am going to tell one of my favorite encounters that i had with woody. he traveled everywhere. i mean, we would get on planes and woody would be on the plane coming to d.c. and you ask him, where is he going? oh, he is a he going to san francisco or he's going to seattle to do something for gold star families. or flip the coin in the super bowl. he had more energy than all of us put together. but he told me a lot of stories from his early life when i sat on the plane with him. he told me during world war ii when he was very anxious to sign up, as so many of them were at those young ages of 18, 19, and 20, he had a problem because he didn't real lay have a birth certificate. he was

the west virginia farmboy in honor of u.s. capitol rotunda, linked to risk the sacrifices of a generation of heroes. that is what we do to marvin what he can rest in peace knowing his mission is complete. i will miss woody because he was my wing man. it may i say this, maybe were all his man and that's what delivered for a particular project for everyone around him. everyone setting up there he had projects for you. get projects for me and projects for shelley. he made sure we understood exactly what we done. he meant what he does have a project for everyone he would magically produce napkins and sharpies in his projects. typically, thank the project watch and d listen. not always unused napkins but, but they always became works of art. [laughter] when he came to me a few years ago and said thatai we needed. he was west virginia. and across the whole country. so we start a motorcycle ride for fallen service euros. we did six of those rides and when he was in his 90s. he was there every time in that slingshot giving only hand.

in west virginia what it happened before i got there is the voter rolls got bloated. because everyone is going to the agencies and getting registered but my predecessors were not cleaning up the rolls. that's the other half. the liberals got let's get everybody registered. the other half, what conservatives thought they were getting was a requirement to clean up the voter rolls every two years but nothing force them to do that. so by the time i took over, the democrat clerks were coming to me saying we have to clean up these rolls. that is what i have run on since i took office in a state that has 1.1 million registered voters. we have taken off 380,000 names from the voter registration.
