that is through howard, montgomery county, western maryland from 11:00 tomorrow night into early monday morning. we could be accumulating snow. southern maryland, fairfax, arlington, not under the winter storm watch. however, that does not mean that you will not see any accumulation. we will talk about that coming up. first, tomorrow morning, partly cloudy, 35 to 40 degrees. we will talk about the next seven days where we have not just one storm but a second storm that lingering freezing rain. pentagon has awarded a contract to renovate the site of the navy yard shooting. in september, gunmen killed 12 people inside of the building. a contracted company named chm2m will build a new entrance, remodeled cafeteria, repaint, and re-carpet the building. there will also be a memorial honoring the victims of the shooting. it is expected to be completed early next year. another reason to ease up on the gas pedal in the district -- traffic cameras are now issuing tickets with hefty fines. as of today, the tickets are not just for speeding. richard reeve is live in northwest to tell us. >> we are

there's the radar and the snow pushing into western maryland, garrett county down toward davis, west virginia, a lot of rain. it's still warm, a lot rain just south of 66 around i-81 just south of winchester. it will turn to snow. we're also tracking earthquakes tonight. who knew? this is in south carolina, very close to the georgia border and it was a 4.1 magnitude earthquake. they originally reported 4.4. there's south carolina, georgia and the border line. there's augusta and it was felt all the way in atlanta up to asheville over toward columbia, south carolina. interesting. it's not that unusual, but it's interesting. there are fault lines in the southeast. 36 in rockville, 35 in lovettsville, 37 in leesburg, very few folks below freezing. someone reston is 31 and laurel, but most folks are above freezing. so we'll keep it a yellow alert tomorrow morning, a conversational clipper, if you will, light snow or snow showers. a little accumulation except in the mountains. it's really an elevation driven snow and surface temperatures too warm for problems in the metro area and because

it's going to begin to move in to the shenandoah valley by then. 6:00 saturday morning, into western marylanden after that, it advances to the east, gets closer to washington. as of 9:00 saturday morning, it starts to get into frederick county, loudoun county, east of the blue ridge. then by around 11:00, noontime, that's when we're going to have the band of snow come right through the metro area and even farther to our south across northern virginia, into southern maryland, northern neck, eastern shore. by 3:00 in the afternoon, it will be a quick-moving band of snow. then it will leave. how much snow will we get? here are some of the totals i think that are going to be likely around the metro area. i think we'll have maybe just one to two inches in washington, our nearby southern suburbs, northern neck, eastern shore. our northern and western suburbs could get two to as much as four inches in some of the higher locations in northern montgomery county and northern loudoun. and some of the higher ridges farther west and north may get up to six inches there. but generally around four inches th

someonen doe washington valley, much of western maryland, frederick county and montgomery county, nearby neighborhoods, watch out. you may see shininess on the roadway. that's likely ice this morning. but i think that will be melting off mid-morning with temperatures in the 30s. then later on we'll see temperatures hover near 40 degrees mid-afternoon. then here's the timing on rain arriving this evening. this is as of 9:00 this evening. the area in green is rain. the area in pink is some rain that freezes on elevated surfaces. that's going to be into the shenandoah valley and get closer to washington. the eurozone is maybe the owner of moderate rain near the metro area, but it is the pink north and west of washington that could need de-icing. maybe snow and sleet along the pennsylvania border. this is midnight tonight. then by dawn tomorrow we'll have the icing continuing north and west of the metro area. that's the highest concentrations of ice. this is as of 6:00 wednesday morning. not a lot of icing around the metro area with a light glaze. then a is going to be causing likely some de

and more than 50,000 customers are facing another cold and dark night without power there in western maryland. the utility crews are working to fix the lines that were damaged in the ice storm tuesday night. in a lot of the spots the trees fell, and pulling the lines with them. and frederick county has some of the worst of the damage. >> and caught on camera, the dang ers of driving in winter weather. keep an eye on the right of the scre screen. a red truck coming down the ramp losing control and spins out into traffic, and the semi truck swerves out of the way at the last minute to avoid the crash, and the driver was able to right the truck to go down road, and this happened in oklahoma city where a couple of inches of snow fell this morning. >>> and looking at the scene from dallas, a speeding car almost hits a woman who was kneeling on the highway after an accident, and another driver narrowly missed the door of the crashed vehicle. >>> and today a photographer got too close to the story in denton, west of dallas. and watch the red car coming odown the snowy ramp. >> the driver nearly runs

when you get up toward i-70, western maryland, the mountains of west virginia, you can pick up an inch two of sleet before the ice which i think is a good thing. if you're going to get freezing rain, having a coating of snow under it makes it a lot easier to clean off the sidewalk and driveway. we have slick spots with temperatures starting below freezing in many areas. this afternoon looks cloudy and looks like we'll be okay. dry anyway through much of the evening but after 8:00, 9:00, here comes some rain. national will be in the mid- 30s. there will be areas north and west of us that will be at or below freezing. if you're going to be out tonight, try to get in early because late tonight, overnight especially, it's going to get dicey and icy in many areas. in fact, the national weather service believes enough ice warrants winter storm warnings for the northern counties, as close as howard, montgomery, loudoun, northern fauquier. you see that going down all the way to page county looks like we have some winter storm warnings. south of there, culpeper right through prince william and

maryland said a deadly combination of drugs has killed 37 people there since september. the mixture of heroin and a powerful painkiller has been hitting the streets all around the country. in western pennsylvania, 22 deaths were reported in just the last two weeks. we asked vanita nair to look into this. >> reporter: lab technicians in pittsburgh immediately new the heroin found on overdose victims was something different. the powder was white instead of yellow. medical examiner karl williams. >> when they found almost exactly the same substance in both of those stamp bags, almost a 50-50 mixture of heroin with fentanyl. >> reporter: what is fentanyl? >> fentanyl is a powerful narcotic. depending on how you formulate it, it can be 10, 20, 100 times more powerful than morphine. >> reporter: fentanyl offers a higher high than heroin alone. it also carries a higher risk of an overdose. this pittsburgh man took the fentanyl laced heroin. he asked us not to show his face. what did the dealer say when he gave you the two bags. >> they're potent, just be careful. which was the first time he's ever told me that. >> reporter: walk me through what happened. you get the bags from him? >> i g
