we're in wickenburg right now and this started 7:00 this morning just outside of wickenburg airport. a private plane takes off. it is headed to payson. there are two couples and everyone is in their 60's. linda and fred gagliano and patrick and linda off in a plane. >> i heard a noise coming over the office real close. i knew it was an airplane then i heard a bang. i went out this way to see if it was someone shorted the runway. >> reporter: the tail section of the plane landed in the yard of a house on the business' property narrowly missing the family. it was a close call. >> it was their lucky day aiming for the house. where it hit the trailer, it hit and probably saved their lives because it gave and did a 360 in the yard. >> reporter: both couples had to be cut out of the cessna. wickenburg police say they have serious cuts and leg injuries. they are being treated at the hospital in phoenix. the national transportation safety board is investigating the cause of this reporting live from wickenburg, steve krafft, fox 10 news. >>> a fox follow-up on one of our top stories from yest

we have a few showers southwest of wickenburg. and the rest of the area around we have showers across northwest arizona and those have been steady through the morning. and we've had spotty showers in northeast arizona through the morning. and now we're starting to see a few showers and possibly thunderstorms firing up near sun valley. as we go through the day today with the moisture lingering and with the heating of the day, we've got at least a slight chance of pop-up storms this afternoon. that moisture showcased here, and you can see all the green indicating the dew points in the mid-50s the state. when you step outside, it's going to feel muggy and that comes into play this afternoon. if you've got plans to get outdoors, it's going to stay humid and you've got to keep an eye on the sky. chances are low for the immediate phoenix metro. i think at most, a 10% chance for a stray thunderstorm. it will be worth watching this and then we track more changes going into tomorrow. today that lingering moisture and the daytime heating is

the bulk of the rain and the more widespread showers have wickenburg to parker to lake havasu city. and that's what you're seeing. more widespread rain to the north and west. and through yavapai county is where we've seen the heavier pockets of rain. in the last few scans, we're seeing more red. and south of williams. those are heavier showers moving through. still pushing from southwest to the northeast. so wet roads, certainly wet on i-40 this morning. not seeing any lightning and the showers at times could create slick conditions. heads up if you're traveling from flagstaff to kingman. you'll be stuck under the showers the entire drive out to the west. not a lot of action in spots to the southeast. the folks has been west of the valley. and we'll continue the best chances for rain. here in the valley. we could see scattered showers as we go into this afternoon. we're getting a boost in moisture thanks to a tropical california. that storm system will continue to weaken. and the remnants eventually push in. and all of the moisture means rain chances are sticking around. a chance fo

valley, a swat situation in wickenburg end being a suspect taking his own life. authorities surrounding the home for six hours near palo vary die, they arrived they could hear gunshots, hours later the swat team sent in a robot that is when they discovered the body. >>> a family fight ends with one man in the hospital with serious injuries. glendale police arriving to the man had been stabbed, police tell us the man was staying with a married couple at the time when they got into an argument. he ended up being stab weekend a large knife. >>> a valley teacher arrested for having sex with a student and the shocking thing is he has been in the classroom for years since this alleged incident. 53-year-old allen scott johnson was arrested at paradise valley where he has been a teacher for the last four years. but it was at cactus high caused of having secretary with a then -- accused of having sex with a then 15-year-old student. she said johnson had sex with the girl in a school bath rom and also inside of his car. johnson's first court appearance did not go well. >>
