[audio not understandable] someone inside to get them outbut they were unsuccessful and they used bolt cutters to cut a outside fence and spotted by staff using a sledge hammer to breakthrough one of the walls. that's when the marin county sheriff office launched a searched and searched the surrounding valley looking for the two men who were trying to break into the facility. they ended up not being able to find the two people. the search just has been called off a short time ago.

claudine wong is in richmond with that story, claudine? >> reporter: in some ways, things look like they are getting back to normal and we have seen employees heading through the gate going to work but it may be months before the crude oil processing facility here on-site is back to normal at the much month refinery. let me -- richmond refinery. firefighters were able to put the fire out quickly and they were able to fully extinguish that fire. there is a lot of damage out there that has yet to be assessed damage that could cause more problem. the unpredictability is preventing people from cal osha from getting in there and taking a closer look and they don't know how long it will take and they say there is no timetable and experts say it could be months. in the meantime experts including osha and the chemical safety board are all getting ready to review and no doubt, they put on the call to dispatchers for help. >> we have a call here for crude? >> i don't know what that means. >> we have a call coming in at 8:31, first level response. >>

claudine wong joins us from richmond with how chevron is responding, claudine? >>> they seem to be the two big questions this morning. how long are repairs going to take. let's talk about the first part of this question in terms of getting close. we note chemical safety board are all taking a look at this and we also know the area is still unstable. there was a second fire that is being blamed on the first fire. the second fire actually allowed firefighters to make some headway on securing that fire scene. >> we were able to see the primary fire had diminished considerably down to almost no leak at all. then we were able to see there were valves to block and get to and we were able to block that area and there is no more leaks in that particular area. >> and that's board news. they are not sure about what they are dealing with and they are concerned investigators will not get in there until they can make sure it is safe. that with the question about repairs, a lot has been said about this crude oil processing unit. they make about 50% of the cities oil and right

welcome back to mornings on 2 i'm claudine wong. >> and i'm mike mibach. two people died and another seriously injured in that accident. it happened at a freeway construction site on 680 in san rafael. allie rasmus is live at the scene. >> reporter: first off cal tran had been doing overnight work in this area where the crash happened. this was southbound 680. now the crash scene was cleared by 6:30 this morning. you can still see the tire marks from this crash in the very far left lanes here. it was around 1:20 this morning when the chp said a man in a white car was driving south on 680. witnesses in the area reported that that driver was speeding. he crashed into a bmw convertible with a man and woman inside and both cars collided into some cal tran construction equipment in the far left lane. no workers were hurt but the car of that speeding driver caught on fire and the man died at the scene. the man driving the bmw also died at the accident scene. the woman in the car went to the hospital in critical condition. the witness that happened to be on 680 t
