wade and certainly if miss willis ends up on the case. it may not be a matter of disqualification as it may be an issue of professional ethics that one or both of them at some point determines that they need to step down or recuse from the case. and i think the bigger allegation as it relates professionally tends to be the allegation that is made again. an allegation that has been made about the ill proper use of state and local funds in terms of miss willis's payments to mr. wade and how that may have benefitted her. that's the allegation. the money part of it is more significant than pairly an alleged personal relationship. if one or more is removed, it could impact the case because they've been leading it. it's hard to not see it as a practical matter to delay the case. >> thank you both very much for that update. just ahead. families of hamas hostages are resorting to new tactics to express their grievances against the embattled israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu as a major military offense is underway in gaza. not just any whi

here's what we know already about fani willis. you know, she's been getting criticized from the start of this investigation really from the right, from a lot of sources, and she is one that has already gained multiple guilty pleas, and so i think a lot of ways fani willis has quieted a lot of doubters with the nature in which she's conducted this case to date. that's the important thing, to date. you know, going -- i do not know, you know, the details that mr. roman alleges here, but i think that in all of these cases, in all four cases facing donald trump and in the campaign facing donald trump, it might not be fair but everybody involved in this needs to have their t's crossed and their i's dotted. the stakes here are way too high to have anything that could possibly, you know, muddy the waters and help donald trump and his compatriots get off the hook. and so, i think that that is why there is a lot of legitimate concern about these accusations from folks who have been supportive of fani willis. i think that is really the big q

it is possible willis will be involved in the case. i think that the fact of the matter is they are both on the same side. there is not a conflict of interest in the obvious sense. it's not like she has a relationship with somebody in the defense team or one of the witnesses but, nonetheless, there is an argument that they are going to have an incentive to keep the case going so that wade can get more money. those sorts of arguments are going to be made by the defendant and ultimately, i suspect the judge is going to find some way make this issue go away or potentially resolve the issue so that the criminal case can go forward. >> do you think she should step aside? >> i do. she should do that voluntarily. could have somebody else in the office oversee it, for example, but i do not think she is going to do that. >> how much do you think, in terms of embarrassment was avoided? i should mention as we heard nick reporting, this is not over. there are going to be other instances where these two individuals could be. there may be more that

the accusations against willis came in a filing by one of those co-defendants, former trump campaign aide mike roman. without providing evidence, he claims willis engaged in an secret relationship with special prosecutor nathan wade, who her office has paid $650,000 to help try the case. and that willis "personally benefited" because wade allegedly used some of that money to take her on lavish vacations. willis has yet to formally respond to the accusations, but speaking at a church service honoring dr. martin luther king jr., she did say this -- >> lord, never mind your flawed, imperfect servant has composed a team that wins, wins, and wins. >> reporter: and she implied wade is only coming under scrutiny because he is black. the other two special prosecutors she appointed are white. >> i appointed three special counselors. it's my right to do. paid them all the same hourly rate. they only attack one. >> reporter: willis did not confirm or deny a romantic relationship with wade, but called him a great friend and a great lawyer. >> all three of these special counselors are superstars.

do you think fani willis is going to be bounced or could the whole case be canned?> first of all, this is two levels of conduct, real quick, eric, to talk about. one is, okay, she appointed somebody to prosecute the case who she was in a personal romantic, sexual relationship with. is that an appearance of impropriety, is it a con conflict of interest, those are perfectly valid questions. but the second area of discussion is was money funneled back to her benefit that was paid to him as counsel. i'm not so sure you necessarily get there the as much as people are arguing because, you know, they say he used that money for the tickets. i don't know that you can establish that. but the two legal questions, to your question, sorry, are: one, should she cause herself, or will the court remove her from the case. that's entirely possible. quite honestly, we'll have to see after this hearing. the second one, will the case be dismissed, i do not believe it will be dismissed because you would weigh is the indictment valid, is the case valid apart from all of this. so that's so
