in north carolina, trump has a five-point lead over the president.g in michigan between biden and trump within margin of error. they are neck and neck with trump having slight edge, does that surprise you? >> not terribly. can development of megasites, pure michigan and legislatures backed by biden administration have been pushing and gotten negative feedback, particularly from republicans on bipartisan basis. i think both candidates have lost a lot of supporters to third parties. >> carley: glad you said that, we just showed third party candidates added and donald trump 42% when you put in third party candidate and biden 37 and kennedy -- according to latest numbers, looks like third party candidate are pulling more for donald trump than biden. what do you think about that? >> i'm not terribly surprised. let me put it this way, a lot of policy promises made by biden administration, they are not nearly as planet friendly or friendly to local economies as biden voters hoped. not speaking for all of them, that is why you see a swing toward independent.

[cheering] he had been john kerry's vice presidential pick in 2004, and even though that didn't work out, it made him an early favorite entering the 2008 democratic presidential primary. he was a good talker. he was good-looking. he had the right politics. yes, edwards was the dream candidate-- perhaps even the "dreamy" candida

[cheers and applause] that's right. and as we travel the state, we like to tell people the story of how republicans have turned north carolina around. prior to 2010, north carolina was $3 billion to $6 billion in debt to the federal government. we were furloughing state workers because we didn't need them, but we couldn't pay them. teachers didn't get a raise for six years. nobody wanted to come to north carolina to do business. taxes were too high, regulations were too stiff. then republicans took over in 2010, and now 13 years later not only do we find ourselves not one dime in debt to the federal government, we have a $5 billion surplus. [applause] and for two years running, north carolina is the number one business destination according to many major publications. we are on firm financial footing. everyone wants to come to north carolina to do business. and despite the ills we see at the federal level with inflation, workforce issues, the sup
