i think it's going to be pretty special. >> allyson felix, congratulations. it's great to see you. >> good morning, everyone. a rare and daring rescue overnight to save an american stranded in antarctica with a serious medical emergency. keith miller has the latest. >> good morning. the patient has not been identified but is reported to be in stable condition. the rescue was necessary because the medical condition could not be treated at the remote facility. privacy laws restrict the amount of information released but staff at the location said the staff needed immediate corrective surgery. it was the australians to the rescue. a specialist medical team was dispatched to airlift the patient to a hospital in new zealand. flying into antarctica in the winter is a dangerous and rare event as the weather is unpredictable. they prepared the pegasus for landing. wind chill minus 100 degrees fahrenheit with visibility less than 100 feet. but there was no battle with the weather today as the evacuation flight touched down safely in new zealand. >> mid-winter medical
