this year the transportation authority passed the one billion mark for our sales tax program allocating funds for projects to improve the safety and accessibility of our transportation system citywide. we've moved a strong group of projects forward. the brt program moved ahead and the major capital projects of the prop k plan are all under construction. to the. our impact extends beyond the investments on the ground. we're engaging community based organizations in our outreach to communities of concern and increasing the involvement of neighborhood groups in the decision-making process. i'm excited about the work underway early action plan and prop k prioritization process. i look forward to working with colleagues on strengthening our transportation sector in 2014. and enhanced project delivery across the city i'll conclude my remarks by wishing everyone an enjoyable and relaxing holiday season. we can go on to public comments to this item and seeing none we'll close public comments and move onto the next item. >> this is an information item, the directors report. >> good morning tilly

nominate eric mar again. >> second. >> are there any other nominations out for chair of the transportation authority>> okay. thank you. >> i will make some remarks, and again, commissioner, thank you so much for nominating me to serve as the transportation chair again and i would like to thank all of the colleagues for all of your work and for letting me last year and for the work over the past year, and we had, you know, i felt it was a really challenging year with the transition that was being made and setting the direction with the transportation authority and i thought that we worked well despite the differences about how we are going to select all three candidates and we worked well in coming up with a candidate and i am pleased so far with the work that has been done by the executive director cheng and i feel like we are working closely for a new direction of the transportation authority. and this is also, very critical year. and because after, years of neglect, we finally have, a great, consensus in san francisco that we want to really make strong investments in our transportation and transit

been working with the treasure island development authority on the development of i-80/yerba buena island improvement project for five years and, back then we asked the transportation authority in the capacity of the management agency, to lead the efforts to obtain all of the required technical documents for the project in and due to our expertise and funding and due to the fact that we had many opportunities to interact with cal transon the aspects of the project. and back in july of 2008, this committee and the board approved and the agreement between tita and the transportation authority for the project management oversight for the engineer and environmental society, and the project and as you may remember, back in july of 2013, i brought to you the 5th amendment and this is where we were seeking an increased amount on the loan from 10 million to 11 million due to additional funding that we received and we were bringing this back to you before because of a recent request made by tita, and the current mla states that the balance of approximately 10.4 million right now is to be structured and four equal payments from december 21st, 2013, to december 31st, december

and the transportation authority is working to engage in diplomacy and the opinions that arise among the concessionaires that the city trust and cal trans. that concludes my presentation and i would be happy to take any questions. >> actually i have one, really quickly first. and you mentioned that the project is not meeting its disadvantaged and small business enterprise goals and what are the pro-active ways that we are making sure that the project sponsors are going to meet those goals? >> well, we are doing two things primarily to areas where we are focusing one is frankly enforcement. and i mean that part of the reason that we know that they are not quite meeting the goal that we have very carefully monitored their subcontracting program and reviewed the documentation for contractor and subcontractors that have been provered by meeting disadvantage business enterprise performance and in some cases the firms that are being counted as meeting the dbe goals were not certified and not currently certified enterprises and so, to some extent, this is news for the contractor, they did n

this is a focus of attention for both cal trans, and the transportation authority where we are carefully and closely monitoring the out reach and the hiring practices as well as the subcontracting practices. and we have assurances repeated assurances from the contractor that they will meet those goals prior to the completing of construction. workforce development program, is going very well, comparedly speaking, the contractor committed at the beginning that at least, 50 percent of new hires would be referred through the city build program and they are on track for meeting that goal. and 72, openings have been reported to city build and city build was able to provide candidates for 60 of those 72 to date and 24 have been hired and there are additional candidates in the pipeline, expected to be hired this month. and this month, and next month, we are seeing a significant increase in positions available. and so we expect these good statistics to look even better going forward. any major construction project, will phase challenges and prosido parkway is no exception. i would say that probab

this has been a partnership between the transportation authority and sf mta. the project is in the environmental review process. i will talk more about this. we are putting together the interviewal document and we plan to release that in the summer of this year. i will give a project background and talk about the staff recommended alternatives and details and next steps. the geary quarter is a six 1/2 mile corridor. the busiest bus lines in the corridor that sf mta operates. 60 thousand trips are carried per day. the 38 local and 38 limited are the current and main line that run on the geary corridor. very heavily used very high frequencies today to 6 minutes at each peak. they travel less and not as reliable to show up when we want them to show up and when they show up, they are crowded when they get behind schedule. so these are the kinds of issues that we are intended to address with our project. our proposal is what we call bus rapid transit. brt which is most prominently figures for the dedicated buses on the streets and a number of improvement that will s
