of course, montgomery county and prince george's county are prepared for when that changes. we checked in with prince george's county earlier tonight. here's how they're looking. their salt supply is in good shape. they have 11,000 tons of salt available now, plenty for this impending storm. they used about 7,000 tons at that last big storm we had. the budget, however, is another story. this year's budget for operating costs was set at 1.5 million. so far they've spent 3.6 million. the biggest challenge will be the sleet, treating those roads between that and getting prepared for the first round of snow. there will be about 250 vehicles out there at once working the roads 12 hour shifts for when the snow is on the ground. that's when the plows will head out. here's more on their plan of action tonight. >> they'll be working on the cold spots as well, your bridges and ramps and intersections, hills. they'll be treating those areas. they're going to be monitoring and treating as needed and once the snow starts it will be a plowing event. >> reporter: back live in montgomery co

roads are operated by counties. and in my county alone we would maintain over 620 miles of road. 500 miles of that is gravel road and we also maintain 36 bridges of various sizes. one i think about that transportation system, i think of a fellow commissioner of mine who is a cow rancher and an order for him to deliver his cattle to the national and global marketplace, he first looked them up on a semi truck and travel 6 miles on a gravel county road. he travels 5 miles on a paved county road. 3 miles on the wyoming state highway and 68 miles on interstate 25. 49 miles on the u.s. hi-49 miled finally to a local city street where he delivers his cattle to the marketplace. in northern part of the county millions of dollars of oil and gas production takes to reach the market or refineries or similar routes that tourists take to reach the national force to go camping. if a week link exists at any part of that system, the renter's ability to put a stake on our plate and the oil and gas industry to fuel our cars and heat o

the impacts being widespread from eastern los angeles county into northern orange county. you can see the bull's eye for most impacted areas right there out near disneyland, anaheim, la habra, palmdale, santa ana, northern orange county as we did see this earthquake roughly the center -- or the focus 4.7 miles deep, with intense shaking in northern orange county. not just the 5.1 earthquake but dozens of aftershocks. the sequence pretty impressive. we've seen 54 reports right before and after the earthquake of 1.0 or larger. some larger ones, 3.6, 3.4 and a 2.9. what was interesting about this quake, an hour before there was a 3.6. this is an example where you have a smaller quake followed by a bigger one and bigger one at 9:09 in the evening. you can see the yarl impacted by this and very likely with an earthquake of this size, strong enough to give you some moderate damage that could break pipes or gas lines and cause cracks to some buildings. you'll see the fire crews inspecting the bridges and freeways and overpasses all throughout orange county. likely we'll see earth

in converse county. converse county is experiencing increased production in oil, gas, uranium, and continues to produce coal. these industries revive jobs that produce the energy driving our national economy. if we do not have the local road heavytructure to support equipment traffic, these resources will never get to market. he will testify today about wyoming counties where road to bring oil, gas, and cattle to markets, to america, and around the world. these are roads that bring tourists to wyoming's spectacular arts. these are roads that people travel for hours just to get to the next towns. these are a mixed of paved and gravel roads. ability to maintain these routes are a central to the economy in my state and to the restaurant states. i believe we need to keep the highway program simple and flexible, building roads, ridges, and highways. that involves a series of permits and approvals from numerous agencies. increaseduncertainty, delays, and increasing cost to states and the taxpayer. our national
