this is one of my favorite paintings of george washington.n that french tavern in new york city and had to have it. you can see it bigger. it is very dark but that is george washington looking at his war plans on not map. i loved that. i will tell you that it played a big role in helping him win the revolutionary war. secret writing because his spy ring could communicate secretly between new york and the mainland. if they hadn't communicated secretly than the enemy would know what their plans are so you have to communicate secretly. my contribution to the whole issue of the revolutionary war and spies is that -- does this ring a bell? the older brother of one of the founding fathers, john jay, and he was a doctor, medical doctor, he developed secret ink for his brother john j.. i finally -- check couldn't find a portrait of him. they describe him as this odious man. i have got to see what he looks like so i finally found this portrait right before this book was going to be published and here is james j.. he was central in providing george was
