good morning. >> here in south philly roads looking a lot better than they did in fairmount where we just came from. if you take a look, you can see pretty clear and pretty dry, we do have a couple of spots of ice just in front of us. you can see it glistening on the screen right now. so everywhere you are going to have to look out for these slick spots. but primarily here, in south philly, see just off the side, in the parking areas obviously, that's where that block of ice is, right now. anything that was cleared but maybe some slush remained, that's frozen overnight. and that's what's creating the problems on back streets, the side streets, your parking lots your driveway, and your sidewalks. soap, with all of those secondary streets that are going to be causing the problem this morning, not the highways some areas are clear like this in south philly, as well. but take a look at the video in fairmount just about half hour ago or so ago and that was looking a lot worse. plows hadn't been through there quite as often. so the slush the snow that had melted yesterday again that went i

you live in south philly you'll see this problem all the time it's the smaller streets that are having the problem. take a look. we just turned down to watts street here in south philadelphia. not every street has been plowed. especially these smaller streets. this is what you have to worry about tonight. now, we spent most of the afternoon checking some of these conditions. most highways inter states like i said in good shape. it's the secondary roads seeing most of the problems in south phil eighths constant problem down here. these narrow streets plows can't even make it down some of these streets and that causes problem problems. we spoke with the owner of big nick's deli 13 and moyaminsing who shows us first hasn't his frustration. >> these streets don't get done until two or three streets later. the little streets are at a problem. you can see it right now. look. i get sideswiped. this is how it is. >> reporter: as we bring you back out who are life south philadelphia philadelphia streets department just zen us a warning tonight. echoing what scott williams is saying tonight and

she is starting out in south philly. good morning jen. >> reporter: good morning, we are live here in west philadelphia, in front of this frozen house. what a site to see. as you mentioned, this is the aftermath of firefighters battling that major fire here on monday, water completely frozen over, and there are some major safety concerns at this point the fear is that the weight of the ice combined with the fire damage will cause the build to go collapse. yesterday fox 29 crews left messages with the philadelphia fire marshall's office, l & i says it is waiting for fire officials to release the scene so they can evaluate the cage. right now the building is a concern, and it is also become a major attraction, with people stopping by to take pictures of this scene. >> the water tanks the firetrucks were froze, freezing up, fire people were chopping literally chopping the ice off the trucks. >> actually beautiful though. nice picture to have, you know, for you guys on instagram, facebook, nice picture to have on your page.

fox 29' chris o'connell is driving the roads in south philly. so, chris how goes it? >> reporter: well, lucy, the good news is, most of the roadways and streets we've been on for the past few hours very clear. penndot and philadelphia streets department doing a really good job. we're actually about to make a turn now. this is catrell street. third and catrell. shears what we're dealing with. we showed you before. it's these small streets that we're dealing with that have the most problems. we'll take a zoom in. you see the plows can't get down these streets. having many problems navigating these streets like we're hearing here in south philly. now what we've seen a lot of is a lot of people clearing their sidewalks today, of course, remember if you're in the city of philadelphia -- many other municipalities actually, you must shovel your walkway and sidewalk within 24 hours of the snowfall ending so you got until tomorrow morning. luckily it's the light and fluffy stuff. so the shoveling wasn't too bad today. we ran into some kids had the day off from school. for pare
