what is some best advice in this cold weather? >> reporter: knowing the temperatures are upon us we talked to medical experts who tell us for senior citizen who is have to go outside, layer upon layer upon layer. the reason is seniors don't have the body fat they used to. and body fat will keep us all warm. lit help to insulate that warmth. now seniors do go inside. it is recommended that the thermostat is set to 68 degrees. anything cooler than that could be dangerous for them. now 68 degrees may seem on the warmer side but to seniors it is not. unfortunately, this time of the year many keep their thermostat lower than that because they simply can't afford it. >> the challenge for a lot of older adult ss is that they can't pay their bills, so they try to conserve on the heat side. >> reporter: for seniors who cannot keep their apartment or home at 68 degrees, it is recommended for them to go to and adult center throughout philadelphia or one of the local senior centers. those are climate controlled and warm in there. it's a safe
