the victims and witnesses were from liberia and sierra leone. the charges laid out in this case were historic. they involve crimes of torture conspiracy to commit torture and related crimes. this case played out over the course of a month and they should really the scope of the american justice system but also of international law and how to confront crimes of impunity. it was also a very personal story underlying this case a story of a father and son who were separated by the nations they came from, one from the united states, one from liberia but were bound by a shared history of these two nations, a nation that was founded on behalf of free displays in west africa. i actually came to this story in the housing projects in staten island called park job is also known as kill the hill. it's whether we can claim came from. is in the towards a but it's also the home to one of the largest liberian communities in the united states. and a stopping off point for the refugees that fled taylor's wars in both liberia and sierra leone. i was a young report

lots of thunderstorms for the sierra. yosemite, tahoe, stormy.oks like the moisture will stay off to our east. you will see those beautiful clouds off in the distance but none for us. the transition next week will be a big deal. it's going to get very warm. it's going to be in the 70s even near the bay it will hit the 80s perhaps 90 by monday and tuesday of next week as high pressure builds in but builds in to the north giving us an offshore wind. that offshore wind is typically what gets us toasty in june and will do just that. look at the sierra. some rainfall totals there one to two inches. a much-needed rain. this will eventually make it into our reservoirs, lake oroville, folsom lake. this is good news even though it may impact your weekend plans in the mountains. we need every bit of rain in the state and it will be raining in the higher elevations this weekend. some mountain thunderstorms there. our summer pattern is taking shape. 60s at the coast, warm inland, everybody above average next week. tomorrow 72 palo alto. hayward 68. san ramon
