many of the big interests in the koch group including the kochs himself our fossil fuel. there are bottom-line boom -- depends on fossil fuels. they have colon they have got gas and they have got pipelines. anything that moves the united states away from fossil fuels is a threat to their business model they have played a really thorough game of trying to capture congress and make it follow in a direction that is good for their business which meant as you were talking about 2010, 2011 congress is considering a bill to cap-and-trade carbon emissions putting some kind of price on carbon pollution. the reason it didn't work in great measure was because the kochs another fossil fuel interests is clobbered anybody who is going to support it. they worked very hard to take out particularly conservative democrats and moderate republicans who might have strayed from the orthodox line that they set which is to say climate change isn't real or doesn't matter or we can afford to do anything about it. >> right in the bill to put climate change to the house of representatives ended up d

not just a brand of koch industries, the koch politics. how do you market it better?usion that if they needed to show good intent among the things they should do is describe their movement as the movement for the well-being, that free-market makes people happy. free markets supposedly give people opportunity. if you shrink the government from the way they describe it, you will bring well-being to america. so from that point on, they started a well-being institute and they started talking about well-being and many of their programs. you can have that word again and again. they also came to the conclusion that people regarded them as highly partisan, very right-wing due to the fact they actually occupied the furthest right wing of the country on the spectrum. they did an alliance with allies and among the allies to introduce is a criminal defense lawyers in the united college fund announced they were going to be giving more money in the past of these groups. they will get a lot more money to these groups and make a push for working with democrats on some issues like cri

what motivates the koch brothers? are there other motivations as well? >> there is what fills in the back story a small group of wealthy donors was hoping to break down the campaign finance limits with a history one after the next after the next so there was more to it with that concerted effort but in terms of what motivates those koch brothers it is hard to know the answer but i believe after spending so much time that they are urged to the believers with their ideology and if you look at that ideology there is almost no daylight with their self-interest. what is good for pope industries is truly good for america and what is good for industries does it could for their bottom line. to see themselves as job creator and they want to shrink government and want to get the regulations off the backs of businesses with environmental pollution in problems to push back. >> but it is in their self-interest. >> we were talking about how you were not able to interview the koch brothers so what is a question you would ask the most of you have been curious about? >>
