many rivers and streams in eastern iowa are at or about late-stage. we will stay there for several more days. i wanted to show you some of the crest on the cedar river because this is one of the reversed that will take a hard- hit it does involve a lot of metro areas. in cedar falls we will have a crest of 100 and 1b. that is a little over i thought short of the all-time record going from 26.4 feet. finally downstream, as we get towards ben 10 the crest are expected on sunday and they should be close to 23.1 feet. eventually the water will russian to cedar rapids and the worst is expected around 1:00 in the morning on tuesday. this is just after midnight when the crest is protected at 25.3 feet. there is a chance it could go up or down a little bit rainfall in the next 48 hours. as it stands now we need to prepare for a flood with a 25 foot crest. that is a real problem maker on the river here. this is where the band channel will typically run in this darker shade of blue. was you get to 25 feet you can see what happens and how the river expands and m

still lots of water in his field -- and fields across eastern iowa tonight. the town of waverly is drying out after the cedar river floods parts of the town. most of the city protected by an inflatable dam. last week--the waverly cedar river dam was unrecognizable. storm track seven's taylor bailey back in waverly today. was completely covered by the cedar river. though the cedar river was high--the inflatable dam did it's job. the city administrator says without the dam, the river would have taken over much of the main street like in 2008. st. pauls church sits across from the river and is no stranger to flooding of the cedar. the pastor says--the church was heavily flooded in 08, but not this year. "it certainly saved this area at the highest part the flooding here the water barely came onto the street in front of the the city administrator calling the dam and the dry run heroes. he says they saved hundreds of the cedar river has gone down substantially and the inflatable dam can now be seen. flooding like the town saw in 2008. we've got you covered, taylor

so clearly the rivers are rising rapidly around eastern iowa and the big issue from here on out is heavy rain. you can see all the area in green here is experiencing flash flood or flood warnings so all across northern iowa and all of these areas where the rivers are actually diagonally running on to the southeast, i'm talking about these in here -- that's where the major rivers run and flood warnings are out. a lot of real estate covered here in eastern iowa. around cedar falls it's expected to crest at nearly 101 feet. over around waterloo it's up to 26.4 feet. these are within many feet set in 2008. we're expecting 21.1 feet coming on sunday evening and by the time we get to late monday around midnight, maybe 1:00 in the morning, the crest is now 23.5 feet. there again you can see the mainstream of this cedar river running through the heart of the city. what you're looking at on either side is what is going to happen if we get this crest of 25 feet which we are now projecting. there's residential areas here going underwater once again and a lot of the downtown is experiencing flooding

the warmest we got at the eastern iowa airport was 92. but that was at the airport. i know other locations did get higher than that. i think the biggest stat that sticks out the most was how wet it was in the summer of 2016. around 6 inches above seasonal averages on the rainfall. when it comes right down to the overall average temperature it was about 73 degrees. so it was a warmer summer than we experienced last year. in fact about 15th compared to 54th. so what about this next it looks like it's a warmer than normal trend across a good share of the country. but thankfully when it comes to precipitation, a little bit dryer, especially across the upper midwest. construction on the bakken oil pipeline has started in iowa, but several farmers are still fighting the use of eminent domain for the project. vern johnson is one of them. he says his land near pilot mound, iowa, has been farmed for the last 122 years. but this last month, workers ripped up johnson's fields for the pipeline, used eminent domain to acquire property rights on johnson's land. he's fighting it by
