lindsay logue joins us now. that woman's car was recalled. did she get it fixed? >> reporter: dan, she didn't. it's important to note she was driving a car considered to be in the high urgency class her 2001 honda civic, another one of the tens of thousands of vehicles like this one with a recalled takata airbag inside in the driver's seat or passenger seat. the recall list continues to grow. this is the largest safety recall in u.s. history. already 11 deaths in the u.s. alone. it's important to know that humidity makes serb cars more dangerous. the airbags in some older model i want to show you a list of the cars considered to be in the high urgency class. one of the models that that woman in california was driving. dealerships are replacing the defective airbags for free. a problem we are seeing and much like the owner of this vehicle here is the backlog. the dealerships are waiting for the replacement parts to come in to fix the defective vehicles. later this morning we plan on making calls to long will it take tampa dealerships to fix your airbag. in the mean

abc action news anchor lindsay logue is live in east tampa where it happened. what are you able to find out can i tell you that police and the last of the florida highway patrol trooper investigators left the scene about two hours ago. at least in the dark it's difficult to even tell there was a crash. but i want to show you the video we shot overnight. just incredible video, heartbreaking. at least three, maybe four vehicles involved in this crash last night. you can see twisted metal and car parts, broken glass all over the road. this is absolutely one worst crashes we've ever seen. one of the vehicles involved was a mini van and we know that on impact that vehicle burst into flames. that vehicle, there were three children inside. troopers shut down the entire road, six lanes in all after the crash. right now they are still investigating exactly what caused the crash. again four people killed as of now. we do know children are recovering in the hospital. and dan and deiah, people who mlk, six-lane road, three lanes in each direction. they say street racing is

we go to lindsay logue, with more. she joins >>reporter: good morning. truly shocking to see this video. watch it again. it is taken of pablo cortes as he drives over the howard frankland bridge. the posted speed limit is 65 miles an hour but according to the snapchat app, he was clocked at 115 and the video coconut palm drive. i will show more of the video. it was taken by his girlfriend, sitting in the passenger seat and you can see the speed filter on the app, it is popular. it shows as cortes hits 82 miles an hour and then 115. shortly afterwards, he lost control of the car and witnesses said they had no time to react. >> it was going so fast. it hopped behind me. i escaped. it's traumatic. >>reporter: the car slammed head-on into a minivan killing the mother and two of her children. they were coming home from church and cortes and his snapchat filter has been at the center of a deadly crash investigation and there are lawsuits because of it and people are pleading with the creators of snapchat to ask them to get rid of the speed filter. they said it

lindsay logue is live in tampa now. at one point, the driver was going 115 miles per hour. >> reporter: and good morning to you. that video posted to snapchat was taken as cortez drove over the howard franklin bridge. the speed limit there, the posted speed limit is 65 miles an hour. but, his snapchat filter clocked him at 115 going over the bridge and that video was night. let's show you more of that snapchat video exclusive to abc action news. more than 50,000 people have watched it since we posted it to facebook. it was taken by cortez's girlfriend. and she's in the passenger seat. you can see on the app that he hits speeds of over 80 and up to 115 miles per hour. and shortly after the video was posted, cortez lost control of his car on mlk and flew over the median inside and that minivan bust into flames and his car hit two more cars and he and his girlfriend died instantly this is not the first time that the filter has been at the center of investigation. there are lawsuits on the table in some states because of it

action news anchor lindsay logue is live with more and we know the driver who caused the crash was speeding at the time. >> reporter: and a snapchat video taken on the franklin bridge shows cortez going 115 miles per hour. that piece of video was posted 9 minutes before the crash happened here on mlk wednesday night. to give you a better idea of what the road is like out here, it's a wide open stretch of highway on mlk. you have three lanes in either direction and very long stretches. more than a mile in some cases wednesday night and saw a car that vw golf driven by pablo cortez speeding in the other direction down mlk. and even if he could have anticipated a crash, he said there was no time to react. >> and it was going so fast that it hopped the median and flew over the car and hit the car behind me. directly behind me. right and i escaped and that is the minivan that immediately bust into flames, he said and that there was nothing he could do. inside that vehicle, a mom, her three children and another child all of them on wednesday night were coming home from church. and that snap chat
