we are in pennsauken township at the wawa here the price root now is buck 95. after this increase takes effect, it's going to jump to 2.18. that's a result of the general assembly the senate combining today to agree to this and the governor has said that he will sign it. what does it mean by the numbers? let's break them down for you. here's what it means. new jersey's gas tax will increase 23 cents. it's going to be from 14 and a half cents up to 37 and a half cents. it was the second lowest in the nation. it's about to become the seventh highest. for comparison here pennsylvania is still higher at 50.3 cents. delaware is now going to be lower at 23 cents. why the increase? well, for roads and bridges. it will provide about $2 billion in annual transportation fundi funding. you tack that on to additional federal matching funds it's a lot of money over the course of the next eight years, and by some accounts could create upwards of 30,000 jobs to improve infrastructure. now governor christie has said he would only agree to this hike if there were cuts as well.
