they seem to be favoring sinema. we have 70,000 ballots likely to favor sinema.will be about 195,000 that are counted from a second collection of ballots. these are ballots that people brought into the polling place on election day. they had them at home, they filled them out, they brought them in on election day. these are likely, republicans say, to favor mcsally more than sinema, although the extent of how much they'll favor her is unclear. there are 60,000 from down here in pima county, tucson, a blue area of the state where sinema has been running up the score against mcsally. then there are about 50,000 sort of from the rest of the state. so if add all of this together, you've got well over 300,000 ballots still to be counted. the bottom line is sinema has taken the lead. she should do very well with these 70,000, should do very well with these 60,000, could hold her own with these 195. it's tough for macsally to make these up. but it will take days, through the weekend and into next week. of course the other big drama on the senate front is in the state of

annie, i want to start off with the message of the sinema victory in arizona. there are so many aspects, as you know. you've got jeff flake who wore facially the weight of the world, the torture he went through during the kavanaugh mess right before agreeing to send it through. and then you have donald trump campaigning in arizona. we had that marauding caravan en route north. >> one thing that sinema's republican challenger did not do was to raise questions about voter fraud the way other republicans have done in close races. the rnc and the white house pressured her, pressured mcsally to raise these issues, and she wouldn't do it. and there was some frustration with her for not going that route. one reason she might not have wanted to go that route is because there is potentially another senate seat open for her. the replacement for john mccain, kyle may not want to serve out his full term and she could have a seat waiting for her. that's one thing that's been speculated about her very nice and moderate tone tonight, her unwillingness to go voter fraud route

mcsally has just in the last few minutes conceded to sinema. democrats have flipped two seats in nevada and arizona. one outstanding seat left in florida. that is a net gain for republicans of only one or maybe two senate seats in an election, let's remember, the gop had a truly massive advantage. democrats going into election day had to defend 26 seats in this election, including five in states that voted for trump by 19 points or more. republicans by contrast only had to defend nine seats. and yet, despite that huge edge, the republican party only managed to make minor gains. as for that florida seat, well, the recount is in full swing in both the extremely close senate race and the governor's race in that state. despite the fact that state election officials keep saying they have seen no evidence of fraud, trump, rick squot and other republicans have been lobbying baseless charges of fraud and criminality against democrats and election officials. the president even suggesting today that outstanding votes from military personnel living abroad

democrat kyrsten sinema, martha mcsally, it is sinema with a surge in maricopa county took over the raceer is in the newsroom. it is not done yet. >> in arizona not unusual for the ballots to be counted after a week, so many people, 75% mail in their ballots. that gets more complicated. republicans filed a lawsuit by the way, challenging the way some of those arizona counties are actually counting the mail-in ballots. they say there is not a uniform standard when it comes to verifying signatures. as you can see, these are the very latest numbers. they change every hour. it shows kyrsten sinema with a slight razor thin edge over martha mcsally by 8800 votes. less than half a percent. we should note 345 votes remain uncounted in maricopa county alone. but because of that republican challenge, the president today tweeting this out saying he is not happy with the way things are going. he said this. just out in arizona, signatures don't patch. electoral corruption? call for new election? we must protect our democracy. state officials say there is no evidence of any wrongdoing. it is very labo
