meteorologist rob mayeda is in for vianey. you were up late last night and you're already back here this morning. >> got all the weekend forecasts covered. the reason we're in red in the microclimate weather alert is for the dry offshore wind which cleared out our skies this morning. but that is a concern, obviously, for fire danger for areas around solano county where a red flag warning continues. 55 right now in san jose as we show you the areas impacted by the wind advisory. good news here, for the dry north winds, this will expire at 3:00 this afternoon, as the sea breeze starts to pick up. notice these areas toward solano county and northern california, red flag warnings through about 5:00 this evening. as we take a look at those winds, you see areas of purple up here around the north bay hills and napa county, gusty winds up to 45 miles per hour, then an interesting change right there. the return of a stronger sea belize. the bay and coasting areas, you haven't had a whole lot of wind this weekend. that will change by 3:

meteorologist rob mayeda joining us now. rob, we've got a shot of sfo behind us. take a look at the brush down here. you get an idea how windy it is, and wind is interesting right now, but what's really going to be interesting is when that rain comes. >> it's the reason why the wind is picking up now. you see the natural anemometers. we've had gusts up to 57 miles per hour there. that's what we're watching right now. it's an onshore breezing starting to move in. as you take a look at the map right behind you, terry, 57-mile-per-hour wind gusts and around san jose, northwest winds at 21 miles per hour. so the dry, gusty, offshore breeze has left, but we've got more wind now coming in strongly onshore. you can see that right around the peninsula. sustained winds 20 to 30 miles per hour. these winds likely peaking in the next three to four hours. here's why. we've got rain coming back to the bay area. this is going to impact your morning commute and ongoing breezy conditions tomorrow. we're talking highs only in the low to mid-50s for parts of the bay area. and there

. >>> speaking of big warming, rob mayeda's here to talk about it's still warm right now. >> we hit 93 degrees. normally for san jose, you don't see that. so about the beginning of june. these temperatures well ahead of schedule. a few of the ties were right there at santa rosa and san jose. 93. hasn't been this hot since 1989. so winds picking up a little bit. there's dublin, and no signs of any cooling yet, though the wind is starting to change direction. and 85 down toward pacifica as well. even around the coast we had low to mid-80s. morgan hill up to about 95 degrees. the transition tomorrow will be the morning starts off pretty mild. we'll still have 50s and 60s outside. some of these inland hills may start off in the 70s. we should see upper 70s around lunch time inland tomorrow. and as the wind picks up, look at the change there. san francisco and oakland, you're going to stay in the 60s and 70s. inland location likely topping out into the 80s. we'll have upper 60s around the start of the game, and we'll have to watch the wind speeds. wind speeds of 15-25 miles per hour. and te

let's start with rob mayeda our meteorologist. e us an updated timeline on when it's going to be get the hottest over the next couple of days. >> next 24 hours we'll see a peek at the temperatures and just today we jumped 17 degrees warmer than the same time yesterday, close to san francisco and most of the bay area anyway from about 10 to 15 degrees warmer. san francisco right now starting to cool off a little bit. 73 degrees. but humidity just 23%. look at san jose. 82 degrees. so as we take a look at tomorrow's record high temperatures on the right and the forecast on the left, you can see santa rosa, oakland, livermore and san jose. livermore obviously if the record of 89 stands the best chance of setting a new record high tomorrow. as we watch the forecast here, inland areas tomorrow that were in the mid to upper 80s have the chance of finding some 90s for the inland east bay and the santa clara valley. coast and bayside temperatures 70s and 80s. but just as soon as the heat arrives for the weekend get ready for some weather w

. >>> let's bring in rob mayeda to talk about the next couple of days.a dramatic heatup. >> it is. >> not just like a couple of -- >> are you ready for summer? >> we are talking about temperatures in the 90s, sometimes a warmup, but this one is going to get your attention. we're going to climb into the 70s tomorrow. but each day as we go through the week, temperatures climbing closer to possibly breaking records. it is kind of blustery out there. northwest wind 20 miles per hour. the peak of these onshore winds occurring about midnight tonight. toward the tri valley, west wind at 13, helping to keep temperatures down in the mid-60s. jacket weather around the bay areas including walnut creek. west wind at 16 miles per hour. west wind at 26 miles per hour. so let's talk about the winds. you see the arrows pointing onshore. notice what happens during the day tomorrow. right around lunch time we begin to see north winds picking up. and it's that transition to the north wind and offshore breeze which will allow for temperatures to climb and also help to clear

rob mayeda is actually the person who is tracking it, and when is it going to get here? >> by the time we wake up tomorrow morning, we'll begin to see some rain around the bay area. ahead of that storm, you'll probably notice the onshore winds increasing rather dramatically this afternoon and this evening. still seeing wind speeds of 20 to 30 miles per hour around san mateo and through the north bay. as we head towards tomorrow morning, that rain is going to drop in for your morning commute. not widespread heavy rain but kind of in and out of the rain at times. higher rain totals will be in the santa cruz mountains or the inland east bay hills and the north bay hills. that's 8:00 a.m. by lunchtime, already seeing the back edge of that storm passing through the bay area. so things will be trending to mostly clear skies, but very cool and windy tomorrow. we're talking highs tomorrow only in the mid-50s. it was just last thursday we had 90s for highs. that's the big drop in temperatures. also a winter weather advisory for the sierra where they could see a foot of snow just

let's bring in meteorologist rob mayeda who's tracking the wind and the fire danger as we head into this weekend, rob. >> yeah, as we start the weekend most of those strong winds will be up against the north bay hills and the diablo range, but eventually we'll see more wind making its way down into the central bay by the end of the weekend. elevated fire danger here. you can see the wind advisory for the areas here in the north bay hills. diablo range and east bay hills. the peak of the fire danger, though, the red flag warning right there, solano county and interior northern california. and i think it's the areas here from lake county, napa county into solano county as we head toward tomorrow night where we'll see wind gusts above 45 miles per hour. so at least to start the weekend saturday most of the wind will be up in the mountains and the higher hills of the bay area, not so much around the central bay. as you see here, the wind speed's relatively low. until we get to about sunday evening, winds will change direction and they'll turn gusty onshore. you see that right through san fra

let's bring in meteorologist rob mayeda. rob, when is it going to get here and how much? >> right around this time tomorrow night we should begin to see the rain drop through the bay area. of course it's less than 24 hours and the oakland a's starting their home opener coming up tomorrow evening. interesting to note low 60s as the game begins. look closely at the rain gauge. if we see the game go into extra innings, may begin to see some light rain around the central bay. the rain is on the california/oregon border, but during the day tomorrow, if you're in the north bay by mid-afternoon, you begin to see a few light showers passing through. then about 11:00, this time tomorrow night, that light rain starts to pass through the bay area. this is the first of several opportunities for rain this week, again, starting off in the north bay by tomorrow afternoon. the peak storm likely showing up on thursday into friday morning. and, yes, sierra snow. we had three feet of snow over the last seven days. we could see two more feet of snow for the sierra by the end of the week. we'
