. >> how is the democratic operation in nevada without harry reed? >> look, i think they still have rebecca lamb who is the harry reed machine driver, and they still have that machine that they're turning out across the state. but there are some challenges, and we'll see this play out in 2024, because it is likely nevada will continue to be an early state. and that includes the fact that nevada is a place where people move in and out of it. it is a very transient state. so when you're looking for addresses, or reliable voters, it is a little bit harder there. the culinary workers are a force of nature. they will continue to be. they certainly are in this race. and there's a lot of reliance on them. so everyone i talk to in nevada says rebecca lam, reed machine still in place. without harry reed, they're at a loss, but the democrats will very much need it moving forward in 2024. >> and of course nevada has been hit a lot harder by the economy, by inflation, by recovering from covid, and all of what happened to hospitality. and also real estate. >> yes

i personally know it's a joy to harry reed in heaven as he is that his state came through. >> so muchctions of a red wave. cnn's harry enton looks at how the democratic party defied history and expectations. >> reporter: although votes are still being counted the 2022 election will go down as historically good for the democratic party. normally in midterms the president's party does poorly. this midterm we saw the democratic party have a net gain of gubernatorial seats, not lose any senate seats and may, in fact, gain one and net loss it looks like of ten house seat. the last time that happened in a midterm election, 1934. so how did democrats pull this off? well, despite high inflation, the issue of abortion was also on the minds of voters. in fact, a look at our exit polls show that about as many voters said abortion was important to their vote as inflation. and those abortion first voters voted overwhelmingly democratic. and, of course, joe biden's popularity sunk considerably over the course of his presidency. and indeed our exit polls showed only about 41% of voters had a favorab

it's so interesting harry reed used to be a guy that had the state wired. he's one of the few guys you could say what's going to happen and he could tell you. those sort of politicians don't exist anymore. about two days before voting ended in georgia called and said how is georgia going to end up? stacey abrams when it was looking bad for biden. she said he's going to win by ten thousand to eleven thousand votes. i said that's a little too specific. two or three days later biden won by ten, eleven. i said i've never seen anybody with a state wired like abrams. she lost. we understand that but talk about how she put georgia on the map for democrats. >> the infrastructure the new georgia project led by stacey abrams built is the infrastructure along with the investments from the democratic national committee. if you talk to jamie harrisson they gave real money in this cycle. the work abrams did is the reason it will be in play for the cycles to come. so sometimes you do not get to reap the immediate benefits for yourself of the work that you do. i think that
