nbc bay area's kris sanchez is in dublin asking questions to get more information about what led up to the crash. >> reporter: the car crashed with such violent force that the debris field extend from where i'm standing back to the corner. it happened on doherty road and fall creek road about 10:30 last night. in the video of the crash, the vehicle is unrecognizable. we now know it was a bmw m-3. it appears the driver hit a tree and a light pole with such force the car split in half, each half engulfed in flames. we saw the coroner at the scene, and dublin police confirm a 25-year-old man and an uni'ded man died at the scene. the investigation is ongoing at this point, but dublin police believe speed was a factor. according to the national highway traffic safety administration, or nhtsa, in 2021, speed was a factor in a third of deadly crashes. the speed limit here is 45 miles per hour. we've seen people driving much tha that. in dublin, kris sanchez, nbc bay area. >>> overall, the state of califoiaas seen an increase in traffic-related deaths.th is data from trip, esearch nonprofit. l

nbc bay area's kris sanchez has more for us. >> on the same day suspect kevin parkourana is to appear in court for the first time, we're finding out the names of the victims he's accused of. the santa clara county medical examiner now confirms what a son of two of the victims toad us, that his father, 71-year-old phuc pham, and his mother, 72-year-old nguyen pham, of san jose were killed on tuesday. jiwanjot dhariwal was stabbed to death. kevin parkourana remains in the santa clara county jail this morning and our legal analyst says it is likely his mental capacity is already under evaluation. he allegedly hit and killed them with a vehicle he's accused of carjacking from a person he stabbed. today he faces charges of homicide, attempted homicide, and carjacking. in 2001, he was convicted of harassing a neighbor and slashing that neighbor's tires and arrested for allegedly threatening someone with a dagger. two years before that, he was found with two explosive devices in his home and car. of he was arrested, another victim came forward, a motorcyclist who believes parkourana hit him

. >> kris sanchez joins us with a password crackdown that i guess seems to be working. it has a lot of people talking. >> it was a gamble because when people heard that netflix was going to change sharing guidelines, they were mad, they said they would un-subscribe, cancel. it turns out that netflix called our bluff. netflix actually saw a 102% spike in subscriptions since it started emailing customers telling them that the crackdown was coming. and according to the data tracking company antenna, netflix saw four of its biggest days in more than four years. netflix estimates that 43% of households do share accounts globally. here is what the spike actually looked like. it was even higher than during the covid lockdowns when we didn't really have much else to do. cancellations did increase during this time but did not outpace the sign-ups. in case you missed it, netflix was telling subscribers they could only share their accounts with people in their households, people they actually live with. the options are to pay $7.99 to keep a person outside the home on the account,

kris sanchez joins us with more in the newsroom with what's happening. >> reporter: kevin parkouranaong and violent criminal past. before the deadly 90-minute crime spree he was facing charges for today, he might have been on the streets because of prison realignment. for now parkourana remains in the county jail, but our legal analyst says it is likely that mental capacity evaluations are already under way. on thursday, he allegedly ran an elderly couple down with a vehicle that he's accused of carjacking from a person who he's accused of stabbing. he is now charged with homicide, attempted homicide and carjacking. after he was arrested, another victim came forward, a motorcyclist who told us that he believes parkourana hit him, too. parkourana did have a history of violent assaults and convictions, two people have restraining orders against him and four years ago he was found with two explosive devices. but because of prison realignment, the responsibility for overseeing his probation was shifted from the state to the county jail. >> so i think there will be questions asked, what w

"today in the bay"'s kris sanchez joins us from our newsroom with what else we know. >> we know in addition to the three people that man allegedly killed, three more are in the hospital and two are fighting for their lives. these are the crime scenes we know of. later san jose police will tell us if there are others as they are looking into whether the suspect is connected to several other violent crimes reported on thursday afternoon. san jose police will update us later this morning, but they tell us that officers were first called to kooser road and dellwood way where a person was stabbed. a suspect took off in that victim's car, police then responded to a second stabbing about 20 minutes later in the 1800 block of hillsdale avenue about three miles away, where the suspect allegedly tried to carjack that victim as well. soon after, officers spotted the car near 16th street and santa clara street where investigators say the suspect allegedly intentionally drove into two people, killing them both, before taking off again. police issued a statewide warning and around 4:30 in the afternoon,
