i'm charles payne in for neil cavuto. this is "your world." let's get right to fox business's jeff flock who is in wayne, michigan with the very latest. jeff? >> hello to you. yeah, this has never been done before. the uaw is working and negotiating with all of the companies at once and in some ways playing them against each other. that's what happened today when they decided not the strike anymore at ford but instead, it's stellantis and general motors. take a look at the numbers. the strike expanded by 38 additional facilities, 20 at stellantis, 18 at general motors. these are parts distribution facilities. as you report, 20 states across the country, everywhere from oregon to california, to new york. these are the facilities that supply the parts for cars already on the road. we have a live picture at one of those facilities. it is just not far from where we are here. it's a stellantis location in the town of centerline, michigan. this is one of the 38 where picket lines are now forming. it's not that many workers. there were already 13,000

ashley webster in for neil cavuto and this is coast-to-coast. top story today. senate back in session, the pressure is on. lawmakers at odds over spending. what else is new? the threat of a government shutdown continues to work. aishah hasnie live with the latest as the clock ticks. >> reporter: the senate is already buzzing. leader chuck schumer blaming house conservatives if congress cannot fund the government and it is all a battle overspending levels. schumer is locked and loaded with 12 appropriation bills they did pass out of committee's bipartisan basis. mitch mcconnell thinks congress will need to pass a short-term extension instead although he does say getting the house and senate to agree overspending levels, a pretty big mess. kevin mccarthy in the pacific this week is looking for short-term extension that will run through november, hoping to get his congress more time to pass appropriation bills and gain leverage with the senate. he's got to get the freedom caucus on board which has a list of demands that wouldn't get through the senate. congressman

i am neil cavuto. we are focused on the uaw, the first auto strike in the better part of a decade. we go to detroit on where things stand with grady trimble. >> reporter: the strike at one of the detroit three automakers looks not definite but almost inevitable. the uaw says it plans to strike by midnight. it will make this decision, at not all the factories but specific targeted locations which it could scale up or pulled back depending on how negotiations are going. unless there is a major breakthrough today the uaw will announce which plants workers will walk out of, ford, general motors, jeep and chrysler's parent company have been negotiating in good faith. some of them say of the uaw is ghosting them by not making counteroffers. ford ceo jim farley said when he went to the bargaining table, sean fain didn't show up. farley went on to say if there is a strike it's not because ford didn't make a great offer. we should be working creatively to solve hard problems rather than planning strikes and pr events. the uaw says offers from automakers so far are completely unacceptable. >

i am david asman in for neil cavuto and you are watching coast-to-coast. our top story, money dump at the pump. us gas prices soaring to the highest seasonal level in a decade, second highest level while cuts are driving global diesel prices higher. right into the is this with chuck devore and senior analyst phil flynn. good to see you. the price of regular is up $0.07 in august, the price of diesel was up $0.42 in august. diesel expects the price of everything. wise diesel up so much? >> combination of factors. the main reason is lack of heavy oil to refine diesel at the highest level. sanctions in russia and in venezuela, lack of that oil plus the demand for diesel globally is stronger than people fought for. when we disrupted russian supplies, provider of heavy diesel to europe. then you have 15% more average for this time of year. dave: when we were energy independent it was a wonderful moment in our history. we didn't have to rely on the saudis and russians to set oil prices. now we are at their mercy or is that going too far? >> it is a bit complex.

i'm charles payne in for neil cavuto, this is "your world." to alexandria hoff in washington where the president is feeling the heat for down playing the strike threat. alex? >> the labor department says they're keeping close watch on the talks. there's nine days left for the uaw and detroit's big three to agree to a new four-year deal. if they don't, the 146,000 members have voted to strike. the union's demands are bold. members are seeking a 46% pay raise, 40 hours of pay for 32 hour work weeks and for traditional pensions to be restored and cost of living increases. workers say the companies have raked in billions on their backs. a g.m. executive said the demands have significant costs attached that would threaten manufacturing momentum. it's clear the two sides are still wide aparty. while in philadelphia yesterday forks labor day, president biden said he's not so concerned. >> mr. president, are you worried about an auto strike? [inaudible] >> he said he doesn't think it's going to happen. uaw's president says he was shocked by this react
