let's bring in cnn national security correspondent natasha bertrand, who joins us with the details on that. natasha yeah, boris, we just learned from the pentagon's deputy press secretary that the u.s. is going to be making a number of force posture changes in the middle east in light of this increased threat by the iranians, given that it is widely expected that they are going to retaliate for that alleged israeli assassination of that senior hamas figure into iran earlier this week. now the deputy pentagon press secretary declined to detail what exactly those force posture changes would look like other than to say that it is essentially going to be an attempt to bolster the security of not only israel, of course, but also us forces who are really have a footprint all across the middle east and in iraq and syria, of course, this is going to be an attempt primarily to bolster their air defense systems, which of course are going to be necessary if iran does decide to launch some kind of large-scale ballistic missile attack, like they did back in april it also is expected to potentially

cnn's natasha bertrand is monitoring developments from the pentagon. natasha, what are you hearing?>> yeah, bianna, so we're told from multiple sources that it does appear like some preparations have been gone to be made by iran and by hezbollah for potential retaliation against israel. but what exactly those preparations look like still remains unclear as does the timing of a potential attack. now, just going back to april when iran launched that attack on israel, you could see missiles moving around us officials very, saw, very clear signs that the iranians were preparing something potentially very significant. they're not seeing those kinds of signs at this point. we're told it does not appear at this point. like the very visible and very active preparations are being made, but they are seeing some signs that there are things moving around potentially some kind of attack could be coming in, the coming days. it remains unclear what that is actually going to look like or whether going to even be coordinated between hezbollah and to iran, or whether hezbollah is going to kind of go

you've got to add troops into that mix as well to maintain and operate that equipment seen as natasha bertrand is tracking this one from the pentagon. >> natasha, what are you hearing about what they're preparing for? >> okay. president biden in his phone call with israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu last night, he did say that he would be willing to send additional military deployments to the middle east to help protect israel against what is possibly going to be a major iranian retaliation for the killing of ishmael haniah earlier this week into iran. now, the u.s. is bracing at this point for something that is possibly much larger and more coordinated than even the iranian attack that we saw on israel in april back when israel assassinated a few members of iran's islamic revolutionary guard corps. that was a major attack with dozens of ballistic missile polls and drones that the u.s largely was able to intercept along with a coalition of allies, who essentially came together to protect israel. and of course, the u.s forces and other allies forces that are in the region. well now they'
