as you can see, the hills are still glowing orange behind me, and they have not been able to cut any lines around this fire. in fact, this fire has been moving, spotting, backing back up the hill and being pushed back down. we didn't think there was anything left to burn, but somehow there is still black smoke pouring out and fire crews racing one way and the other. we've been here all day long, sitting here in this wind that has been absolutely relentless. and you mentioned that fire that's burning in the hollywood hills, the sunset fire, chasing more people out of their homes tonight. those are just, you know, a few acres. but those are important acres, very, very highly populated, densely populated areas that we are told are being hammered by about five helicopters and 20 engines that are doing their best to contain that and keep it from spreading into the flatlands like we've seen from this fire yesterday that started on the hill, didn't burn up the hill, came down the hill pushed by those heavy winds and pushing the fire against its nature, its natural inclination to burn uphill

not very much rain. this one is shaping up well as we freeze the map at 10:00 on friday, quite a bit of rain from san francisco northward. you go across the hillsre not seeing nearly as much rainfall. this will give way to intermittent showers but still a little bit more of the much-needed moisture at this point. we are falling behind the pace at this point in the season. but even if you look to the south, you miss out on the first chance of rain, often on showers still on saturday, best chances are in the northbay. the next chance of rain heads our way monday into tuesday. that is going to bring rain on a more evenly distributed basis. you can see as we add up the rain during the course of the systems. friday into friday night, talking about barely a trace for the bay area generally up to a quarter inch or inch of rain for parts of the northbay with a little bit more on top of that on saturday, not much for sunday. sunday looks like a dry half of the weekend, still flexible plans have an indoor backup ready to go. the system comes late monday into tuesday. it is going to spread the rain further across the bay area. everyone will pick up short

we were breezy in the hills, but and not an issue for us.s a different story in southern california, which i'll get to in a bit. first lets take a look at your daytime highs. so even though we're off to a frosty start in some places, we will be warming up to some mild temperatures in the low 60's inland around the bay and mid 60's and then low 60's around the coast and 63 for you in santa rosa. looks like the warmest spots will be in the south bay, san jose. morgan hill close to 70 degrees looking some moderate air quality out there as well. if you're in that sensitive group. and here is why we have high pressure in control and that lack of surface flow and then low pressure down to the south. that's driving those offshore winds as gusty santa ana winds keeping things dry. so a quick look over at the main fires in la county and ventura county. so we have the pacific palisades on the west side even fire on the east side. so humidities are in the teens now 20% winds are calm, but around the areas in the hills. tracking 27 miles per hour over i

we are in the capital one arena not far from capitol hill.s earlier today was packed with around 20,000 trump supporters who traveled, many of them from out of state to be here to witness the presidential parade and rally that took place after the swearing in ceremony. a number of supporters i spoke to today told me they feel like president trump is more comfortable and experienced in washington this time around. they have even greater expectations for his second term. again, these are trump supporters who approved of his first term and they feel like he will be able to get a lot done, especially now since republicans currently control both chambers of congress. we've already seen republican senators trying to move quickly on some of trump's key cabinet picks with marco rubio being confirmed just tonight as secretary of state. >> pretty hard to miss the head of nearly every major tech company was at today's inauguration. what do you think that tells us about the relationship between the trump administration and the tech industry? >> reporter:
