yamiche, another welcome. we have nbc news with its new reporting today on more moves by the trump administration to push out federal employees and the pushback from those inside the government. give us a sense of what you're learning. >> that's right. well, nbc news has learned that a senior fbi official pushed back on any more firings of other officials in the bureau. they pushed out so much that people actually thought he was going to lose his job. this, of course, came amid a number of firings that happened with top fbi officials. at least eight senior executives, including also heads of field offices. we also know that more than two dozen federal prosecutors who worked on january 6th cases were fired. and there's now this investigation on fbi agents, thousands of them, that worked on the january 6th investigation, that, of course, being the capitol riot. take a listen, though, to what lindsey graham, who, of course, is a republican and has been an ally of president trump, what he had to say today. >> i'm

nbc's yamiche yamiche alcindor is at the white house for us.o ncaa president charlie baker said in december there are actually less than ten transgender athletes that he knows of. but what more can you tell us about this decision? >> well, let's start, chris, with just that number. we know that the ncaa president back in december told senators that fewer than ten transgender athletes were competing in college sports. that number ten is out of 510,000 athletes. so just ten. that's a very small number. we also know that the cdc, they released numbers on transgender high school students. they said roughly 3% of high school students identify as transgender, and about 2% have at some point questioned their gender identity. despite these numbers being small, the impact of president trump's executive order is not small. what you're seeing is, as you said, the ncaa saying that they're going to align their policies with what they called a new national standard being set by the trump administration. you also have a number of other sort of sporting commit

okay, yamiche, thank you for that. and joining me for more on how these tariffs will impact your wallet is nbc news senior business correspondent christine romans. give me a sense, my friend, on what the u.s. leader reaction has been throughout the country, and also the extent to which from canada and china, these are going to target specific areas. like what? >> so what's so interesting is you're hearing from democratic governors, you're hearing from mayors. they're concerned about two things. they're concerned about the prices that their constituents will have to pay because of tariffs. a lot of tariffs are passed on, of course, to the people who consume the goods. right. tariffs are an import tax paid for by the u.s. importer, not by the foreign government. and that's something that that president donald trump often conflates. but you listen to senator tim kaine, for example. he's worried about the prices his constituents are going to pay, but also the businesses in his state that could face retaliation. listen. >>
