a professor at ucla, he in particular highlights how islam was never supposed to be a too radical force. it was supposed to always push for justice and equality so he tried to put this -- flip the script a little bit. >> i was going to say to your point the premise of the question is this narrow centric high as the view that the way the state's asserted control over religion is the narrative although in many ways that wasn't necessarily the case in europe either. furthermore again this notion that religion can haven a single causal effect is nonsensical although if that is the underlying assumption of so much of the association between islamic terrorism for sample and understanding where they are at hinduism or christianity it would seem nonsensical for someone to come out and say this person is christian so clearly they are going to be violent. certainly there are aspects of the christian tradition that could lead one to that assumption. many other aspects you could point to saying no religion is not about violence and islamism is the same but the fact of that presumption prevails reit
