air traffic controllers noticed the error when the plane was about a mile from the airport. this is the latest mishap at sfo in the last six months. in november a united express sky west plane taking off for oregon hit a bird. the bird sucked into one of its two engines. the plane like this one was in the air for 30 minutes before it made an emergency landing back at sfo. [ indiscernible ] indiscernibl >> after that emergency landing then a united 737 bound for seattle had to abort its take off when it hit turkey vultures. weeks before that an air canada crew from montreal was cleared to land by air traffic control but then ignored repeated orders from the tower. >> air canada 781 go around. >> after landing safely the plane reported having a radio problem. air canada subsequently said the cockpit never received the orders. then in july another air canada jet came dangerously close to crashing into four other planes awaiting take off on the taxi way. it flew as low as 59 feet off the ground before pulling up to a tent and other landing. that prompted the faa to issue new rule

half moon bay is down to a third of a mile. it's improved a bit along the east bay, oak land airport, sfo. i did see slight delays earlier today. visibility is down to a mile and a half. here is a look at the bay. it's 58 in san francisco, 63 in san jose. you are warming up there. that's where the sun is trying to break through. satellite and radar showing plenty high cloud coverage. as far as rainfall, we have it all from overnight. it wasn't much. petaluma, about a 10th of an inch. it was a weak overnight storm but we are watching another one that's on its way. storm number two will be arriving but not until thursday, friday. tomorrow this high pressure will be coming through. we will see partly cloudy conditions tomorrow. here is your futurecast. you can get a good glimpse of that and welcome the sunshine. probably fog in the morning and then things should clear. temperatures will be warmer by a degree or two today. thursday morning is when the rain will come through from the north to the south. and it will stick around throu

we've seen some spots with visibility dropping down to a quarter of a mile or less and then for partsf the east bay and the tri-valley it's been very spotty. just watch out and allow extra time to get to work today. a nice and cool start, mid 50s with our highs in the south bay reaching up to 62 degrees in east san jose and 61 degrees in los gatos. for the east bay 62 degrees in danville and 59 degrees in hayward. it's going to also be a nicer day because we will get more sunshine so even with these mid to upper 50s i think it will feel better. in santa rosa 57 degrees, more clouds there and even a slight chance of rain for santa rosa and areas farther to the north. going hiking in the south bay we start out with patchy fog as you get ready to head out temperatures in the low 50s, as the day goes along it's going to be nicer with breezy winds. going through the forecast we will have the slight chance of rain santa rosa through mend se seen know county. a system looks to bring in more widespread rain and this one will be a colder system that could bring in a lot of snow for the sierra.
