let's bring in aaron katersky really quickly who's poring through the indictment as well. this is a relationship that we have reported on in great detail here on world news tonight that between the former president and mike pence. and there's a point in the indictment where where it's clear that the former president has told mike pence, your two honest. >> it's a stunning moment when the former president trump called the vice president and berated him. david, the indictmentay because he lened that pence had opposed a lawsuit seeking a judicial decision,hat at the certification, the vice president had the authority to reject it. the what was going on on ocapitol hill. pence, we know, has said he did not have that authority, disagreed with with president trump, was berated for it. the special counsel says trump telling him you're too honest. and while this is not called out for a specific criminal charge, that it is even part of the whole tally of criminal charges is really quite stunning. and of course, we know the calls that echoed here on capitol hill on january 6th hang

aaron katersky has more from atlanta. >> donald trump is leading in the polls against his opponents as he seeks the gop nomination, but his legal troubles are mounting. the former president facing a possible fourth indictment this week for his alleged attempts to interfere in the 2020 election in georgia. during a phone call in january of 2021, he urged the secretary of georgia to find votes for him to win. the district attorney says that her work is accomplished and at least two witnesses have been called to testify early this week before a grand jury. trump has been unsuccessful in trying to disqualify her from prosecuting him and has denied all wrongdoing. gabriel sterling, a top elections official has repeatedly rebuked the former president's claims of fraud. he thinks that trumps rhetoric, including a recent campaign act -- ad attacking willis could lead to violence. >> we counted the ballots three times. he lost the state. he continues to say he did not lose it. and it's just crating a lot of tension and a lot of chaos. >> president biden's son is facing his own legal challenges.

senior investigative correspondent aaron katersky starts us off in atlanta. orning, aaron. >> reporter: good morning, george. the indictment is expansive and encompassing. it charges 19 people with 41 counts and puts donald trump at the top of what prosecutors call a criminal enterprise. this morning criminal case number four. the state of georgia versus donald john trump. >> the indictment alleges that rather than abide by georgia's legal process for election challenges, the defendant engaged in a criminal racketeering enterprise to overturn georgia's presidential election results. >> reporter: fulton county district attorney fani willis charging trump and 18 others, including some of his closest allies with racketeering, calling them a criminal organization that knowingly and willfully joined a conspiracy to unlawfully change the election in favor of trump. the grand jury handed up the charges after dark. the indictment delivered to the clerk at 8:54 p.m., nearly 12 hours after prosecutors began presenting their case. minutes later it was handed to the judge

investigative reporter aaron katersky joins us with more. good morning, aaron. >> reporter: janai, good morning. as you heard if the former president is at all worried about being indicted yet again, he certainly didn't show it as he campaigned in iowa bragging of that big lead, but the reality is he could be just days away from criminal charges in a fourth case. this one involves efforts by trump and his allies to keep him in power by interfering with the election outcome here in georgia, a state he lost to joe biden. trump called the georgia secretary of state asking him to find nearly 12,000 votes for him. rudy giuliani appeared before state lawmakers hoping to convince them of irregularities in the vote despite providing no evidence that there were any. fani willis has said her work is accomplished. at least two witnesses have been called to testify early this week before a grand jury. a vote really could come at any time. trump has tried to disqualify willis from prosecuting him, but so far the courts have not gone his way, and if trump

's live outside the fulton county jail in atlanta. aaron we were told that this could move very quickly. >> he's been inside about ten minutes so far, david, after his motorcade drove right past us and through the gates into this booking facility. and the former president, daetz vehicles are already lining up for his exit. so it is only expected to take mere minutes for many criminal defendants. this booking process can take hours in a rather unpleasant place. this is the fourth time former president trump has surrendered to face criminal charges, but the first time he's done so at a jail and a controversial one at that known for overcrowding and for the way they treat inmates for the recent death of an inmate whose body was found covered in bugs. but the former president is not going near any of that necessarily, only there to be fingerprinted, to have his weight and his height recorded and perhaps even to take his first mugshot. or david, one was not required in the other three juris

aaron katersky is tracking the case from atlanta. morning, aaron. >> reporter: george, good morning to you. what an incredible thought. a former president of the united states must make bail. that's the reality for donald trump, who posted on social media he will turn himself in here on thursday. when he does, he's going to need to come with cash. the judge set former president trump's bond at $200,000, the first of his four criminal indictments to require trump to post bond. he'll have to pay 10% when he surrenders in fulton county, where he and 18 others are charged with conspireing to overturn trump's election loss in georgia. district attorney fani willis personally signed the order after meeting with trump's attorneys. they agreed to rules for trump's release. he can make no direct or indirect threat towards any potential witnesses, including his 18 alleged co-conspirators. that includes posts on social media or reposts of posts made by another individual. to comply, that means trump may have to soften his rhetoric about the cas
