bad air quality in the area. an air quality advisory and it's a "spare the air" day. it's the second worst air quality that we have seen in the bay area ever recorded. that value of an aqi of 225, that was last friday. that's the day after the butte county cam fire started. e t air quality in the bay area with an aqi value of 269 was october 13th last year. anything above 200 very unhealthy air. and we'll see we go through the a live look with our "salesforce" tower camera looking east. you can see the bay bridge, hazy conditions this morning. below freezing in santa rosa at 29 degrees this morning. cold across the north bay. we have a "spare the air" alert spoke through friday and later on re the air" alert the north bay could see a little improvement. we'll see it push off to the east eventually. low pressure will move . so wind direction changes likely this weekend with onshore flow kicking in for us and that will help and improve our air quality this weekend. and then looking at rain chances, we have our fingers crossed on this one. sunrise at 6:48. sunset at 4:58

you can't escape the air.ou can try to stay away from outside but indoors it's smoky. >> indoor air is generally better than outdoor air, so our main message is for people to stay indoors as much as possible, limit their outdoor activity as much as possible. if you can set your air conditioner to recirculate, if you're able to have a setting like that, that's helpful. keep your doors and windows closed as much as possible. >> we've been talking to a lot of people about those masks. the grade mask n95, there have been conflicting reports about the filter on front of those masks. is it important to have that filter or can you have the n95 grade mask? >> if it says n95, it means it's certified that when properly fitted, it will filter out 95% of those small particles that we're worried about from wildfire smoke. so the filter in front isn't so important as long as it says n95. however, they only work if they're well fitted. people with beards that generally don't fit well on, we don't have masks also for children

this air quality this weekend was the worst air quality every recorded here in the bay area. was nearly 300 on friday through yesterday morning and last night it dropped down to 16 which is much lwer than it was but still considered unhealthy. in addition to the air quality, the golden gate bridge is under a heavy fog advisory today and while onshore fog sounds like a good thing, it's not strong enough to clear the air.and although the air quality is much better than it was this weekend, i spoke to a gentleman who says he's going to the city to escape what he thinks has been the worst."the smoke today is much worse. i went into airnow.com, and in my opinion it's worse than what they say, from my standpoint - from the person that's breathing it in." now today's air quality isn't as bad as it was over the weekend. it's between 151 to 200 which is the red range which is unhealthy for everyone, and it's likely to stay that way until it rains later next week. and keep in mind the bay area is under a spare the air advisory which prohibits, among other things, outdoor burning, so if
