let's get a check of traffic with alexis. >>> good morning.ve got several tough spots to get through morning. highway 17, if you're coming from santa cruz, you know it is going to be a tough commute. just so many lingering weather issues. so, northbound 17, your main route out, we still have the slide blocking the northbound lanes at vfd vine hill road. one lane open in each direction. 3 or 4 miles an hour and that backup to 6 miles. that is brutal ask as you know as well, most of those alternate routes are blocked by additional weather-related problems. also, state route 37 still fully blocked between 101 and atherton. very earliest it could open is thursday but of course that's when we have rain moving back in so chp not sounding for optimistic and we are seeing delays building now. westbound 37 on to atherton although chp is there offering some traffic control as well this morning. quick check outside, san mateo bring is slow at this point too and we'll take a look at drive times coming up. >>> "good morning america" coming up at 7:00 a.m.

. >> hi, alexis. the lights are out and somebody's home. >>> yeah, that is kind of what's going on right now. here's a look at the bay bridge on the western side as you head into san francisco and we are trying to really get to the bottom of this. it sounds like nobody really kno knows at this point. we've got an electrical issue that is causing the lights to be out on the bay bridge. it started off on the western span and it's extended beyond the treasure landsliisland tunn. past the metering lights, those lights are still on, unfortunately, you are still going to get caught there once those turn on but once you make it to the tower and towards the incline, they are off. just use caution. i definitely am keeping a close eye on that. westbound 580, tracy to dublin, just 36 minutes ffr for you, not bad there, southbound 680, that was a rough commute yesterday, dublin to mission boulevard, only 15 minutes and northbound 85, you're still in the green as well. let's check in with drew tuma with a look at

here's alexis. good news? >>> yeah.till looking pretty good but we are definitely starting to fill in and see things slow down here. so here's the bay bridge toll plaza. that pavement starting to slicken up a little bit as the rain pushes in and we do have a high wind advisory just issued for the bay bridge too. gusty when i drove across several hours ago so those gusts are picking up. both hands on the wheel. let's flip over to the traffic maps. we do have that closure still of state route 37. they were only able to open up one eastbound lane yesterday so we still have a full closure of the westbound side and of course this is just that flood-prone area. actually the backup hasn't been too bad. that was in the red just a moment ago. we were down to 27 miles per hour. looks like that's thinned out just a bit and chp is on the scene helping out with that traffic control once again today. other than that, we've had very few incidents here this morning. westbound 580 to northbound 680 in the dublin area, we got a spinout c

let's get a look at the morning commute with alexis. >>> it is going to be a soggy one. here's a live look outside at the bay bridge toll plaza. you can see that rain really coming down so we've got a lot of road spray kicking up. not the easiest commute. but if you're heading out this early, we don't have any major slowdowns. 101, couple issues here. southbound 101 south of the airport there we've got a solo vehicle spinout crash, blocking the left lane, sounds like we have a second crash in the same area and that is partially blocking the right lane. northbound 101 on the off ramp to whipple, vehicle lost control and went into some trees and bushes there on the shoulder. so one of those days, you're going to want to slow down and drive for conditions. we'll take a look at a couple mass transit issues coming up. >>> the thought of a strike sends chills through any b.a.r.t. commuter. now a bay area lawmaker is proposing a plan to make sure a walkout doesn't happen again. >>> and the best ballet students on the west coast come together under one roof on the peninsula. the

alexis, in the last few hours, there has been a lot going on, a lot from the white house, about whathey're going to do next. can you please help update us? >> well, the president was focused today with the prime minister on the goal that he set, and you heard him talking about that. and i think that's important to remember, what he's saying is that he wanted to temporarily bar the travelers and the refugees from coming in, while the administration created what he calls an extreme vetting program. in other words, a screening process. what he came back to talking about today is the many options that he sees, that the administration still has to achieve the ultimate goal. initially, we heard the president in a tweet say i'll see you in court and kind of be very hot-headed about it. today his reaction was more measured. as the day went on, what we learned is that the options are go back and revise the executive order that he issued and clean up the parts of it that seem to be most problematic or vulnerable in the courts. right? simultaneously, he's also saying we could go back to the dis
